We’re seeking a construction executive who can develop client relationships, win retail construction work, and lead the teams responsible for delivering it.This opportunity combines business development, project oversight, financial accountability, and team leadership. The ideal candidate brings strong retail construction experience, established relationships in Arizona, and the ability to turn new opportunities into lasting client partnerships.
The OpportunityLead the growth and execution of a retail construction portfolio across the greater Phoenix market and surrounding Arizona communities. You’ll work closely with estimating, preconstruction, design, and field leadership to guide opportunities from the first client conversation through project completion.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop new business with retail developers, property owners, national brands, regional operators, and commercial real estate professionals.Lead project pursuits, including proposals, presentations, interviews, contract discussions, and negotiations.Strengthen existing client relationships and generate repeat business.Provide executive oversight across multiple retail and commercial construction projects.Hold teams accountable for project schedules, budgets, quality, safety, and client satisfaction.Review financial performance, cost projections, project risks, and profitability.Coordinate with preconstruction and design teams to align scope, pricing, constructability, and delivery expectations.Oversee retail rollout programs and projects involving repeatable brand standards.Hire, coach, and develop project managers, superintendents, and supporting team members.Align staffing and operational resources with upcoming work and business growth.
What We’re Looking ForAt least 10 years of commercial construction experience, including 5 or more years focused on retail projects.Experience leading multiple projects and managing both project teams and client relationships.A background in retail construction such as restaurants/QSR, shopping centers, big-box stores, inline retail, standalone retail buildings, tenant improvements, or mixed-use developments.Demonstrated success generating opportunities and securing construction contracts.Established relationships within the Phoenix or broader Arizona retail development market.Strong understanding of permitting, design coordination, retail prototypes, construction sequencing, and project turnover.Financial leadership experience covering budgets, forecasting, margins, and business-unit performance.Confidence leading client presentations, resolving project challenges, and negotiating commercial terms.Familiarity with construction management, scheduling, and document review platforms such as Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project.
Especially ValuableExisting client relationships that could support new business opportunities.Experience delivering projects through a design-build approach.National or regional retail rollout experience.Participation in retail real estate associations or industry networks.A track record of building teams while growing a construction portfolio.
Location & TravelBased in the Phoenix area, with regional travel for project visits, client meetings, and industry events.
