Product Design Engineer – Mechanical (3–4 Years Experience)

Position Overview:

We are looking for a highly motivated Product Design Engineer to join our product development team. The engineer will play a key role in designing and developing LCF reactor systems, supporting the complete product development lifecycle—from concept design and prototyping to manufacturing and validation. The role requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to convert innovative ideas into manufacturable, reliable, and scalable products.

Qualifications:

• B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–4 years of experience in mechanical product design and development.
• Hands-on experience with SolidWorks for 3D modeling and assembly design.
• Experience in preparing detailed 2D manufacturing drawings with GD&T, tolerances, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Understanding of vacuum systems, thermal engineering, heat transfer, and mechanical assemblies.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and assembly.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Design mechanical components, assemblies, and reactor subsystems using SolidWorks.
• Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and engineering documentation.
• Develop products from concept through prototype, testing, validation, and production.
• Design components for vacuum compatibility, thermal performance, and structural integrity.
• Collaborate with electrical, thermal, manufacturing, and testing teams during product development.
• Work with vendors to ensure manufacturability, quality, and timely delivery of components.
• Support prototype assembly, testing, root cause analysis, and implementation of design improvements. Perform design reviews, tolerance analysis, and engineering calculations.
• Maintain design revisions, BOMs, and engineering change documentation.
• Contribute to the development and scaling of LCF reactor products from laboratory prototypes to commercial 1 MW containerized energy systems.
• Continuously improve product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with vacuum equipment, pressure vessels, thermal systems, or energy products.
• Knowledge of engineering standards, GD&T, and design for manufacturing (DFM/DFA).
• Exposure to prototype development and experimental product validation.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced R&D environment with cross-functional teams.
