Company Description India Turns Pink is India’s largest non-profit movement dedicated to women’s wellness and breast cancer awareness. Founded in 2003 as “Chennai Turns Pink,” it has grown from a city-based initiative to a nationwide campaign reaching multiple regions across India. The organization partners with key institutions such as Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Kalyanmayee to conduct large-scale awareness and screening drives. Through Pink Selfie campaigns, free breast cancer screenings in public spaces, and digital and offline health programs, India Turns Pink has already impacted millions of lives. Its current flagship goal, “10 Million Moms,” aims to reach 10 million households by Pinktober 2025, driven by the mission that early detection saves lives. Role Description The Social Worker will play a critical on-the-ground role in advancing India Turns Pink’s awareness and screening initiatives in Chennai. This is a full-time, on-site position focused on engaging communities, especially women and families, to promote breast cancer awareness and early detection. Day-to-day responsibilities include organizing and supporting health camps and screening drives, conducting outreach in neighborhoods and public spaces, and facilitating educational sessions on women’s health and preventive care. The Social Worker will provide guidance and psychosocial support to individuals undergoing screening, help them navigate referrals and follow-up care, and maintain accurate records of community interactions and program outcomes. The role also involves coordinating with local partners, volunteers, and medical teams, and contributing feedback to improve program design and outreach strategies. Qualifications Relevant education such as a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, or related field. Experience in community outreach, health education, or working with non-profit organizations, preferably in women’s health or oncology. Strong interpersonal, counseling, and active listening skills, with the ability to build trust across diverse communities. Ability to conduct group sessions, workshops, and awareness campaigns in clear, culturally sensitive language. Proficiency in spoken and written English and Tami and Hindi or Urdul; additional local languages are an advantage. Organizational and documentation skills, including maintaining case records, event reports, and basic data entry. Comfort working in field settings, traveling within Chennai, and collaborating with volunteers, healthcare professionals, and partner institutions. Demonstrated empathy, resilience, and commitment to non-discriminatory, gender-sensitive, and inclusive practice. Willingness to work occasional weekends or evenings during major campaigns and screening drives. Prior experience in breast cancer advocacy or women’s wellness programs is a plus but not mandatory. Across India projects need to travel across India.
