About the role:

Zeltis communicates the Government of West Bengal’s schemes, initiatives, events, and priority messages to the people of the State through accessible, culturally resonant content. While words carry the Government’s voice, visuals anchor its presence. We are looking for a Graphics Designer who specialises in newspaper advertisements and print media layouts , with a deep understanding of the nuances and sensitivities of public communication in print.

This is not commercial advertising; it is public dissemination of governance and policy . Every design carries the responsibility of accuracy, clarity, and cultural appropriateness. The role demands someone who can balance aesthetics with discipline, ensuring that layouts are visually compelling yet factually precise, and that they respect the protocols of government communication.

• 3 to 5 years minimum prior experience in print design, preferably in newspaper ads, government campaigns, or public communication.
• Candidates from newsrooms, publishing houses, advertising agencies with government accounts, or design studios specialising in print media will be strongly preferred.

• Design newspaper ads, print layouts, and media creatives that communicate schemes, events, and policies clearly and effectively.
• Translate departmental briefs, press releases, and campaign notes into visual formats suited for print dissemination .
• Ensure accuracy of official nomenclature, scheme names, figures, and logos in all designs.
• Work closely with copywriters to align visual treatment with narrative tone .
• Adapt designs for different print formats (broadsheets, tabloids, inserts, OOH posters, brochures).
• Maintain consistency in design language across campaigns while respecting cultural and regional contexts.
• Deliver rapid-response layouts during announcements, launches, and time-sensitive events.
• Act as the final visual quality check , ensuring no factual or typographical errors slip into print.
• Guide junior designers and maintain the unit’s design standards and style protocols .
• Uphold strict confidentiality on unreleased communication and internal material.

• Expertise in newspaper ad design : Strong grasp of layout grids, typography, spacing, and print-ready formats.
• Understanding of governance sensitivity : Appreciates that government communication is distinct from commercial branding; respects factual discipline and political/administrative sensitivities.
• Detail orientation : Ability to catch errors in scheme names, figures, spellings, and ensure flawless print output.
• Software proficiency : Advanced skills in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, and familiarity with print production workflows.
• Language awareness : Ability to design for bilingual copy (Bengali and English); Hindi proficiency desirable.
• Creative flair with discipline : Can produce visually striking layouts while maintaining restraint and accuracy.
• Proactive ideation : Brings design concepts unprompted, proposes campaign visuals, and anticipates communication needs.
• Commitment and availability : Willingness to work beyond designated hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays when required.

• Prior agency experience with government or public-sector accounts.
• Familiarity with print production processes (CMYK, bleed, resolution, proofing).
• Experience in OOH and digital adaptations of print campaigns.
• Knowledge of social media design compliance for cross-platform adaptations.
• Published work in editorial design, long-form layouts, or campaign graphics .

Remuneration: Up to ₹7,20,000 per annum , commensurate with experience, portfolio and interview performance
