Electrical Engineer

Leads electrical substation and power plant engineering projects from concept through construction, including high-voltage design, protection and control, equipment specification, and power system analysis. Job Requirements Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.

Electrical substation design experience required.

Experience supporting substation projects from 13kV through 345kV.

Combined-cycle power plant experience.

Experience specifying low-voltage and medium-voltage transformers.

Experience specifying switchgear, motor controls, and variable frequency drives.

Experience developing one-line and three-line diagrams.

Experience designing AC and DC power systems.

Experience with battery sizing.

Experience developing protection and control schematics.

Experience with SCADA and communication systems.

Experience designing relay panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and cable lists.

Experience developing grounding systems and lightning protection.

Experience performing voltage drop, cable sizing, and conduit fill calculations.

Experience with grounding and lightning analysis.

Experience with insulation coordination.

Experience with short-circuit and load-flow studies.

Knowledge of IEEE, NESC, NEC, and utility-specific standards.

Experience preparing technical reports, equipment specifications, bills of materials, and cost estimates.

Preferred Skills Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.

Experience with trailer-mounted power systems.

Extensive combined-cycle power plant experience.

Experience with utility or industrial power distribution systems.

Experience with substation construction support and field engineering.

Experience with control building design and cable scheduling.

Job Responsibilities Lead and support substation projects from concept through design, construction, and project closeout.

Support full lifecycle engineering for substations ranging from 13kV to 345kV.

Develop and review complete substation design packages.

Create physical substation layouts including plan, elevation, above-grade, and below-grade designs.

Develop yard layouts, grounding systems, and lightning protection designs.

Design raceway, conduit, and cable routing systems.

Develop control building layouts and cable schedules.

Create and review one-line and three-line diagrams.

Design AC/DC auxiliary power systems and perform battery sizing.

Develop protection and control schematics.

Develop SCADA and communications system requirements.

Create relay panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and cable lists.

Perform and review grounding, lightning, insulation coordination, voltage drop, cable sizing, and conduit fill calculations.

Perform or review short-circuit and load-flow studies.

Specify transformers, switchgear, motor controls, VFDs, and related electrical equipment.

Prepare technical reports, equipment specifications, bills of materials, and project cost estimates.

Ensure designs comply with IEEE, NESC, NEC, utility, and project-specific standards.

Present technical findings and design recommendations to customers and project stakeholders.
