In this role, you will work within the estimating department to develop an internal estimate by performing detailed take - offs to calculate the amount of materials, labor and equipment for the project.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Pre - Estimate
    • Participates in Estimate Plan meeting and aids preconstruction team as assigned.
    • Participates with in pre - bid meetings and site visits.
  • Estimate Development
    • Reviews blueprints, specifications and other documents to understand the scope of work.
    • Ensure that the estimating team has the necessary information to develop the estimate. If information is lacking, then is responsible for communicating that need to the estimate lead.
    • Manages RFI lists (subcontractor, internal, and/or owner), as required per proposal.
    • Collaborates with the appropriate resources to determine the project specific tax and insurance requirements.
    • Ensure s that clarifications are complete and compiled into a single document.
    • Collaborates with client bid form and coordinates with marketing for inclusion in the formal proposal.
    • Reviews RFP requirements to help determine compliance. Responsible for communicating to estimate lead when deviations exist.
    • Leads discussion on scopes - of- work estimated , during estimate review.
    • Ensures estimates comply with industry standards, NEC and local regulations along with job specific standards.
  • Subcontractor Management
    • Build and maintain vendor and subcontractor relationships.
    • Manages, or participates with the development of the subcontractor/vendor bid list.
    • Ensure only qualified subcontractors receive bid documents.
    • Meets with local subcontractors as needed.
    • Organizes and leads pre - bid meetings, if required.
    • Helps develop and distribute subcontractor bid packages, including but not limited to, NDA’s, RFP, drawings, scopes - of- work, bid forms, contract attachments, schedules, and site logistics plans. Coordinates with operational resources, as needed, to ensure completeness
      of bid packages.
    • Receives quotes and conducts subcontractor and vendor analysis. Organizes and leads scope review meetings for scopes of work estimated by Estimator. Makes recommendation for selection.
  • Post Estimate
    • Submits project budget to project management team with thorough estimate, scope and specifications review.
    • Reviews and makes recommendations for subcontractor selection with project management team.
    • Manages Project Management team with compiling scope - of- work documents for contractual agreements.
    • Collaborates with compiling lessons learned for the precon phase, if applicable.
    • Participates in lessons learned meeting at project close. Helps understand budget underruns and overruns, and communicates those lessons learned to the precon department.
  • Database Maintenance
    • Maintain preferred subcontractor database.
    • Maintain bid forms and bid packages database.
    • Maintain cost history database.
    • Maintain estimating database.
  • Travel
    • Meets with local subcontractors, attends bid walks, and attends conferences as necessary.
    • Travel up to 20% as required.
  • May supervise others.

Education & Years of Experience:

  • Highschool diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum 5 years’ of industrial electrical experience is required.

  • Current certification in First Aid and CPR
  • Maintains an OSHA 10 - hour course current within the past three years
  • Ability to understand owner/engineer requirements with conceptual ability to work with minimal information.
  • Knowledge of construction, materials system, market conditions and trade practices.
  • Knowledge of estimating software (preference for Beck Destini, Accubid, Bluebeam, InSite, etc.)
  • Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite programs
  • Detailed and deadline oriented, well - organized and ability to prioritize.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal clients, external clients, and subcontractors.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, team members may be required to visit alternate locations and therefore must have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to do so. This position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipul ate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10 - 50 pounds. Requires good hand - eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The team member is frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
