We are looking for a passionate and target-oriented Academic Counsellor who can understand students’ aspirations, provide personalized guidance, and help them successfully progress through their study-abroad journey.
Job Summary
As an Academic Counsellor at Gradzest, you will be responsible for counselling prospective students, understanding their academic and career goals, recommending suitable study-abroad options, and guiding them through the admissions process.
The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, a student-first approach, strong follow-up skills, and the ability to work towards counselling and conversion targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Student Counselling
* Connect with prospective students through calls, WhatsApp, video meetings, and other communication channels.
* Understand the student’s academic background, career goals, financial situation, preferred destination, and course interests.
* Provide personalized guidance on suitable countries, universities, courses, and intakes.
* Explain admission requirements, eligibility criteria, tuition fees, scholarships, and career opportunities.
* Address student and parent queries professionally and accurately.
2. Application & Admission Guidance
* Guide students through the university selection and application process.
* Coordinate with internal application/admissions teams to ensure applications are processed on time.
* Follow up with students regarding required documents, application deadlines, offers, deposits, and other important milestones.
* Maintain accurate and updated student information in the CRM.
3. Student Follow-Ups & Conversion
* Conduct timely and structured follow-ups with prospective students.
* Track every lead and ensure no potential student is missed.
* Identify student concerns and provide appropriate solutions to move them forward in the process.
* Work towards individual and team counselling/conversion targets.
* Maintain strong relationships with students throughout the admissions journey.
4. Interview & Application Readiness
* Identify students who require additional preparation for university interviews and assessments.
* Coordinate with relevant teams for mock interviews and preparation sessions.
* Ensure students understand university expectations and are adequately prepared before their interviews.
5. Cross-Functional Coordination
* Work closely with the Admissions, Application, Education Loan, Visa, IELTS/Training, and Operations teams.
* Ensure smooth communication and handover of students between different stages of the process.
* Escalate complex student concerns to the appropriate team or manager.
6. Student Experience
* Maintain a high level of professionalism and responsiveness in all student interactions.
* Build trust with students and parents through transparent and ethical counselling.
* Ensure students receive accurate information and realistic expectations throughout the process.
* Collect and communicate student feedback to improve the counselling experience.

Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any discipline.
* Experience in study-abroad counselling, education consulting, admissions, student recruitment, or inside sales is preferred.
* Knowledge of popular study-abroad destinations such as the UK, Germany, Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, USA, and Europe will be an advantage.
* Candidates with experience handling student/parent counselling and achieving sales or conversion targets will be preferred.
