Role Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Crowd Simulation Lead / Senior Artist to dr i ve the creation, management, and execution of complex crowd systems for feature films, episodic content, and immersive experiences. This role requires both technical expertise and artistic sensibility to deliver believable, dynamic crowd performances that enhance storytelling.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of crowd artists, providing mentorship, feedback, and technical guidance.
• Collaborate with animation, layout, FX, and pipeline teams to integrate crowd systems seamlessly.
• Design, develop, and optimize crowd simulation rigs, behaviors, and motion libraries.
• Implement procedural workflows for large-scale crowd shots using industry-standard tools (e.g., Golaem, Massive, Houdini, Maya).
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges related to crowd dynamics, performance, and rendering.
• Work closely with directors and supervisors to interpret creative briefs into crowd action.
• Ensure crowd performances align with narrative intent, scale, and visual style.
• Balance realism and stylization depending on project requirements.
• Contribute to pipeline development for crowd simulation, ensuring efficiency and scalability.
• Research and adopt emerging technologies in AI-driven animation, procedural systems, and real-time simulation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in crowd simulation for film, TV, or games.
• Proven expertise in tools such as Golaem, Massive, Houdini, Maya (knowledge of Unreal Engine is a plus).
• Strong understanding of animation principles, motion cycles, and character behavior.
• Experience leading teams or mentoring junior artists.
• Solid grasp of scripting (Python, MEL) for automation and pipeline integration.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
