We are running a retained search VP Engineering search for a global enterprise technology company building one of the most SOTA legal AI products in the world, leading a team of 100+ This is a senior leadership role owning the core AI agent capability and the engineering platform that supports it. The Role The VP Engineering will lead a large engineering organization responsible for building, scaling, and operating the company’s core agent platform. This team owns the technical foundation behind production AI agents, including agent development, runtime infrastructure, integrations, reliability, scalability, security, and platform architecture. This is a role for an engineering leader who can operate close to the product, not just the technology. The successful candidate will work closely with senior product leadership to shape roadmap, challenge assumptions, and help define how AI agents should be built and deployed at enterprise scale. Key Responsibilities Lead the engineering organization responsible for the company’s core AI agent platform Own the architecture, delivery, and reliability of production-grade agentic systems Build and scale infrastructure for agent runtime, tool use, customization, and integrations Oversee platform areas including scalability, reliability, authentication, authorization, and memory optimization Partner closely with product leadership on roadmap, prioritization, and customer-facing outcomes Build, develop, and lead senior engineering teams across platform, infrastructure, and applied AI product engineering Ensure the platform is reliable, observable, secure, and capable of supporting enterprise customers Help set the technical direction for one of the company’s most important AI product areas What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate will bring: Deep experience building or leading teams building production GenAI or AI agent systems Strong engineering leadership across platform, infrastructure, or product-facing AI systems Experience operating at meaningful scale, both technically and organizationally Strong product partnership and the ability to shape roadmap, not just execute against it Experience with scalable infrastructure, runtime systems, distributed systems, or AI platform components A track record of building reliable, secure, enterprise-grade software products The ability to lead senior engineers and technical leaders in a fast-moving environment Clear technical judgment and the communication skills to work with product, design, research, and executive stakeholders Relevant Backgrounds We are particularly interested in candidates from: Advanced AI product companies AI agent or agent infrastructure companies Applied GenAI startups Major technology companies with deep AI/platform engineering depth Legal AI companies Product-led engineering organisations building complex AI systems at scale Profiles that combine startup pace with prior big-tech scale exposure will be especially relevant.
