Position Summary
SERAP India is recruiting an Assistant Manager – Purchase to manage sourcing, supplier development, project purchasing, procurement activities, and purchase administration. The position supports both local and global sourcing initiatives, strengthens supplier performance, and contributes to the quality and cost-effectiveness of SERAP products and installations.
General Competencies of the Candidate
Work Experience
Strong 7–10 years of experience in purchasing and sourcing within industrial companies.
Strong technical background with a B.Tech or M.Tech degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
Good knowledge of the local market and a strong local and national supplier network.
Spoken languages: English, Hindi, Gujarati, and any additional language.
Good knowledge of stock management, MRP, sourcing, and logistics, preferably using SAP, as the position will manage purchasing and procurement personnel.
Good knowledge of the taxation system applicable to goods.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.
Experience in steel fabrication or stainless-steel industries would be an asset.

Responsibilities of the Position
General
Supervise the activities of the Purchase and Procurement team as the function develops.
Select suppliers through the SERAP supplier selection process, including comparative statements in Excel and management validation of prices.
Manage major supplier disputes relating to quality, price, or other significant issues on a case-by-case basis. Minor disputes may be handled by the Procurement or Purchase Engineer / Executive.
Lead global sourcing projects for the SERAP Group in collaboration with France.
Manage and lead projects that benefit the subsidiaries, with regular updates and reporting to management.
Maintain and update cost records to establish reference points and enable the Commercial team to budget tender prices.
Improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of SERAP products and installations.
Collaborate closely with the Quality department on all purchasing-related activities, including article qualification and technical data management.
Take responsibility for designated projects and procurement activities.
Negotiate and finalize agreements with contractors for projects in coordination with the Project Manager.
Purchasing, Project Purchasing and Vendor Development
Research, identify, consult, evaluate, and compare suppliers for capital goods, one-time purchases, raw materials, accessories, company services, and consumables to achieve cost-effective purchasing at the required quality level.
Directly negotiate and finalize Annual Rate Contracts (ARC) for Class A and B items and Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) for services.
Research and identify suppliers for Class A and B items according to technical specifications, target cost levels, and quality requirements.
Collect, validate, and update suppliers’ technical purchasing data, including material certificates, datasheets, and drawings, and prepare documentation for item codification in France.
Lead negotiations with suppliers for Class A and B items and projects.
Define terms and conditions in favour of SERAP India to optimize sourcing costs for all items.
Define and validate detailed item requirements, including technical specifications and quantities, based on customer tender documents and in collaboration with the Technical department.
Ensure strict coding of purchased products in coordination with SERAP Industries reference requirements.
Monitor price developments over time for major and strategic suppliers, including stainless steel, cooling units, DG sets, and localization components.
Support the Purchase Engineer or relevant person in negotiating and purchasing equipment and services, including phones, computers, IT equipment, and IT support.
Negotiate and purchase capital equipment and services, as well as one-time purchases for projects.
Conduct testing and provide feedback and monthly management reports within the specified deadlines for individual projects.
Analyze and rate all service providers.
Administrative Work
Finalize and approve purchase orders in SAP for local Class A, B, and C components.
Communicate with vendors while maintaining company confidentiality.
Standardize and formalize the purchasing system.
Document, analyze, and adapt processes, with cross-verification of documents for ISO requirements.
