We serve as an independent third party in real estate transactions, structuring exchanges to qualify for tax deferral and acting as the escrow agent for exchange proceeds. We are currently seeking a Paralegal / Exchange Coordinator to join our in-house legal team at our Woodbury, Long Island location. This is an excellent opportunity for a paralegal with commercial real estate transactional experience who is looking to grow professionally in a highly specialized area of real estate and tax law. - Support the Legal 1031 team in administering a variety of exchange transactions
- Assist in-house counsel with reviewing and editing correspondence, company forms, and marketing materials
- Upon training, work closely with the team on complex transactions, including reverse and improvement exchanges
- Develop a strong working knowledge of §1031 exchange rules to support attorneys and other professionals
- Prepare exchange documentation and coordinate with clients and their professional advisors
- Organize and manage transaction pipelines, track critical deadlines, and ensure timely follow-up
- Maintain client files, account statements, and provide administrative and transactional support
- Collect, analyze, and verify transactional documents and related information
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook, particularly Word and Excel
- Professional demeanor with strong client service and interpersonal skills
- Strong work ethic with the ability to manage multiple transactions and deadlines
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information
- Excellent organizational, time management, verbal, and written communication skills
- Prior experience in real estate transactions, escrow, title, tax, accounting, or financial services is strongly preferred
- Real Estate: 2 year (Preferred)
- Paralegal: 3 year (Required)
