Job Description

The Logistics Capacity Manager is responsible for managing relationships with contract carriers to ensure reliable, cost-effective transportation solutions across designated regions. Hirschbach is committed to delivering exceptional service, and the Capacity Manager must consistently uphold high service standards while contributing to the organization’s efficiency and profitability. Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with contract carriers.
  • Organize and maintain records of carrier contact info, preferred lanes, and rates.
  • Continuously engage in new carrier acquisition and qualification.
  • Manage coverage through outbound calls, load boards, and carrier outreach.
  • Clearly communicate load-specific expectations, including tracking compliance.
  • Monitor and enforce performance standards with carriers.
  • Identify opportunities for improving service, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Actively collaborate with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and respond to carrier communications (email, phone) promptly.
  • Maintain a results-driven approach to load coverage with urgency and accountability.
  • Intra-California Team: Expected to book 30 - 70 loads per week
  • OTR Team: Expected to book 20 - 40 loads per week
  • Demonstrates basic understanding of logistics functions and load booking.
  • Uses external tracking tools and carrier onboarding systems (Carrier 411, RMIS, Carrier Assured) at a foundational level.
  • Learns to navigate carrier vetting and identify red flags.
  • Provides call support to secure load coverage.
  • Understands service expectations and escalates issues when necessary.
  • Shows steady growth in volume and accuracy of bookings.
  • Responds to communications in a timely and professional manner.
Education and Experience:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: 0-2 years of relevant experience in transportation, logistics, or a customer-facing support role.
  • Eagerness to learn carrier operations, tracking tools and freight booking systems.
