Job Overview
A law firm seeks a mid-level associate to join its private equity group in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will bring at least four years of broad corporate experience, including second chair mezzanine debt or private equity matters. While Chicago is the principal focus, candidates for other offices will be considered. All candidates must be admitted to the state bar of their office location.
DutiesAssist in the formation and structuring of private equity and mezzanine debt funds.Conduct legal research and draft transactional documents for fund formation matters.Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex corporate transactions and due diligence.
RequirementsMinimum of four years of broad corporate legal experience.At least second chair experience in mezzanine debt or private equity matters.Active admission to the state bar of the office location.
EducationJuris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
CertificationsState bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction.
SkillsStrong understanding of private equity fund structures and mezzanine debt instruments.Experience with SBIC funds is preferred but not required.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
