JC Porter is searching for a Controller for a growing organization in Denver. This is a hands-on accounting leadership role for someone who enjoys owning the accounting function, improving processes, and staying close to the details.
This is not a role where a large team handles the work underneath you. The right person will be comfortable leading the accounting function while also rolling up their sleeves with month-end close, financial reporting, audits, compliance, analysis, and process improvement.
Key ResponsibilitiesOwn the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processPrepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAPMaintain general ledger accuracy, account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedulesLead financial reporting, internal reporting packages, and variance analysisSupport annual audits, audit schedules, documentation requests, and external reporting needsStrengthen accounting processes, internal controls, compliance procedures, and reporting accuracyPartner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and FP&A-related analysisMonitor cash flow, expenses, margins, and key financial trendsSupport tax, insurance, compliance, banking, and other corporate finance needsIdentify opportunities to improve systems, workflows, reporting, and financial visibility across the business
Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldCPA or MBA in Accounting requiredStrong GAAP accounting backgroundExperience owning month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger accountingAudit support experienceCompliance experience requiredStrong Excel and financial modeling skillsAbility to prepare accurate financial statements and explain results to leadershipComfortable working in a hands-on role without relying on a large accounting teamMust live within commuting distance of LakewoodPrior Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager experience
