*Blockchain Engineer (Mid Level) – Capital Markets* Experience:*4–7 years total experience, including 2–4 years in blockchain / distributed ledger developmentDomain:* Capital Markets / Financial Services*Role Overview* We are seeking a *Blockchain Engineer* to design, build, and maintain distributed applications across permissioned and public blockchains within *capital markets environments*. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role, ideal for engineers who enjoy implementing smart contracts, backend services, and blockchain integrations while adhering to *regulatory, security, privacy, and scalability* best practices common to market infrastructures. *Key Responsibilities* *Blockchain & Smart Contract Development* - Design, develop, test, and deploy smart contracts on distributed ledger platforms (permissioned and/or public) for capital markets use cases. - Implement *multi-party workflows* supporting post-trade processes such as settlement, asset servicing, reconciliation, or tokenised assets. - Design token models and on-chain / off-chain data interactions aligned to *capital markets processing and controls*. - Apply secure smart contract design principles, including access control, upgradeability, data privacy, and auditability. - Write unit, integration, and functional tests for smart contracts, incorporating business-critical scenarios (e.g. cut-offs, volume, failure handling). *Platform & Integration* - Integrate blockchain solutions with *capital markets systems* (e.g. settlement platforms, custody systems, reference data, reporting) using REST, gRPC, or JSON-RPC APIs. - Implement backend services supporting blockchain workflows using Java, Scala, Kotlin, JavaScript, Python, or similar languages. - Support Web3 or enterprise DLT integrations using relevant SDKs or client libraries. - Assist with node configuration, environment setup, and deployment across development, test, and production environments. *Engineering Practices* - Participate in code reviews and follow secure development, SDLC, and DevOps best practices expected in regulated financial environments. - Debug and resolve issues across environments, including integration and data consistency issues. - Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated testing. - Collaborate closely with architects, technical leads, business analysts, and product teams . *Required Skills & Qualifications* *Technical* - Hands-on experience building solutions on at least one blockchain or DLT platform. - Solid understanding of distributed ledger fundamentals, consensus mechanisms, and transaction lifecycles. - Experience with smart contract development (EVM-based, UTXO-based, or state-machine-based paradigms). - Backend development experience (Java / Scala / Kotlin / JavaScript / Python). - Experience integrating systems using APIs and microservices. - Strong understanding of on-chain vs off-chain data design and event-driven workflows. - Experience with CI/CD, version control (Git), and testing frameworks. - Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). *Capital Markets* - Experience working in *Capital Markets or Financial Services*, such as securities settlement, custody, clearing, asset servicing, payments, or post-trade processing. - Familiarity with *STP processing, high-volume transaction flows, and operational controls*. - Awareness of regulatory, audit, and data-retention requirements typical of market infrastructures. *Nice to Have* - Experience with enterprise blockchains or public networks (e.g. Ethereum, L2s, permissioned DLTs). - Familiarity with Canton Network, DAML, Corda, or Hyperledger Besu.- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes. - Exposure to digital assets, tokenisation, or DLT-based post-trade platforms .- Awareness of smart contract security tools and common vulnerability patterns. - Prior experience with market infrastructures, custodians, CCPs, or CSDs.
