Job SummaryThe Project Manager 1 or 2 will develop and manage customer-focused transmission projects for the Grid Expansion portfolio. These could involve large-scale load clients such as technology centers and industrial facilities requiring power capacity of 20 megawatts and higher or large-scale generators connecting into the Transmission system. This role takes projects from the select gate phase through conceptual engineering, detailed development, estimation, initial scheduling and prepares for implementation at initiate gate. Responsibilities:Develop transmission-fed load projects for large-scale industrial clients requiring 20+ megawatts of power OR develop transmission-scale generator interconnectionsEnsure sufficient scope, detail, and accuracy to support project initiationDevelop and maintain accurate and complete project estimates to support decision-makingCreate and manage adequate project schedules to support planning and implementation phasesConduct site field visits at onset of the project lifecycle (approximately 10% travel)Initiate project schedules in Primavera P6Manage project financials and reporting through EcosysCoordinate with engineers, project control specialists and cross-functional teams to ensure project successDesired Qualifications:Master's degree (preferred but not required)Experience with Ecosys financial management systemProficiency in Power BI for reporting and analyticsExcel skillsExperience with SharePoint lists for documentation and collaborationBackground in scheduling (beneficial)Experience:3-5 years of project management experience for PM-1, 8+ years for a PM-2Experience with transmission electric utility projects (critical requirement)Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling softwareBachelor's degree from a four-year college or university (business or technical field)Skillsets:Primavera P6 - Project schedulingEcosys - Financial management and trackingPower BI - Reporting and data visualizationSharePoint - Documentation and list managementMicrosoft Excel - Data analysis and reportingCertifications:Not specified as required; relevant project management certifications (PMP, etc.) would be beneficialTravel Requirements:Frequency: Approximately 10% (typically one day per project lifecycle)Purpose: Site field visits for project assessment and monitoringGeographic Area: Durham, NC to Clemson, SC (DEC footprint)Duration: Generally day tripsDriving Requirements:Valid driver's license required for site field visits within the DEC service territoryPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE):Standard utility industry PPE required for site visits (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, high-visibility vest).
