Assistant Corporate Controller

Asset Talent Partners is running a confidential search for an Assistant Controller at a well-established, diversified real estate firm headquartered in Scottsdale. The firm’s portfolio spans residential development, multifamily, industrial, and office.

This role is for an experienced accounting leader who does their best work when the entity structure is complex. You’ll own consolidations across a high volume of entities, with partnership structures and multi-tier ownership throughout. You’ll report to the Director of Accounting and lead a team that includes two manager-level direct reports. Exceptional candidates may be considered at the Controller level.
What you’ll ownConsolidated financial statements across a large, multi-tier entity structure, working with the Director of AccountingPartnership and JV accounting across multiple ownership tiers, including capital accounts, distributions, and intercompany activityReviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual financials for the corporate entities you’re assigned, and keeping entity-level reporting accurate and consistent at volumeReviewing quarterly workbooks for corporate entities and serving as the main point of contact for outside tax and audit partnersLeading, training, and mentoring the accounting team, including two manager-level direct reportsBuilding processes, controls, and close discipline that scale as the number of entities growsLiquidity covenant reporting and support for project-level financingTreasury oversight, including banking administration and cash flow reporting with the Treasury ManagerCorporate budgets in Yardi, including budget vs. actual reporting, plus corporate and project billbacks
What you bringA bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field; CPA preferred7+ years of relevant accounting experience, with real estate development, investment, or fund accounting as a core part of itDeep, hands-on consolidation experience across a high volume of entitiesA strong technical grasp of partnership structures and multi-tier ownershipExperience leading accounting teams, including managing managersA strong command of GAAP and intermediate or better Excel skills; Yardi experience is a plusConfident communication with internal teams, partners, and auditors
Compensation$140,000 to $160,000 base, plus a 20% bonus target (total cash up to $192,000)
