Prewal Studio is looking for a highly creative and technically strong Embroidery & Surface Development Designer to independently drive embroidery, embellishment, and surface-development projects for our high-fashion apparel collections.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in adda embroidery, hand embroidery, beadwork, sequins, appliqué, thread work, textile manipulation, embellishment techniques, and experimental surface development .

This is a development-focused role. The candidate should be capable of understanding buyer references and aesthetics, converting them into executable embroidery concepts, developing swatches, working directly with karigars and vendors, and taking developments through to approved garment execution.

• Research international embroidery, embellishment, textile-surface, and high-fashion detailing trends.
• Understand buyer references, mood boards, garments, images, and development directions.
• Translate buyer aesthetics into commercially executable embroidery and surface-development concepts .
• Develop innovative:

• Bead and stone work

• Cutwork
• 3D surfaces
• Fabric manipulation
• Mixed-media embellishments
• Experimental surface techniques
• Develop and present embroidery swatches, placements, motifs, borders, all-over concepts, and garment-level applications.
• Select appropriate beads, sequins, stones, threads, trims, fabrics, and other materials required for each development.
• Work directly with karigars, embroidery masters, adda teams, vendors, and sampling teams to execute developments correctly.
• Create clear artwork, layouts, placement references, specifications, and development instructions for execution.
• Use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator wherever required for artwork and visualization.
• Independently follow developments from:
• Concept → Artwork → Material Selection → Swatch Development → Correction → Approved Sample → Garment Execution
• Ensure embroidery quality, density, placement, finishing, workmanship, and overall aesthetic meet premium/high-fashion standards.
• Continuously experiment with new materials, techniques, combinations, constructions, and surface treatments.
• Work closely with merchandising and sampling teams to ensure developments meet buyer requirements and timelines.
• Coordinate with sourcing for required materials and identify new materials/vendors whenever necessary.
• Review embroidery and surface work during garment sampling and provide corrections before final approval.
• Conduct periodic checks during production to ensure approved embroidery, workmanship, placement, materials, and finishing are being maintained.
• Ensure developments are commercially feasible and capable of being replicated consistently in bulk production.
• Maintain an organized library of embroidery swatches, artwork, techniques, materials, references, and approved developments.

• 5–10 years of relevant experience in high-fashion embroidery, couture, designer wear, premium export houses, or surface-development studios .
• Excellent practical understanding of adda work and hand-embroidery techniques.
• Strong understanding of beads, sequins, stones, threads, trims, fabrics, embroidery materials, and surface-development techniques.
• Ability to convert references and concepts into executable embroidery developments.
• Strong aesthetic sense with excellent understanding of proportion, placement, scale, color, detailing, and finishing.
• Experience working directly with embroidery masters, karigars, vendors, sampling teams, and production teams.
• Good working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Ability to create clear embroidery artwork and technical development instructions.
• Strong problem-solving ability during development and execution.
• Ability to manage multiple developments simultaneously while maintaining timelines and quality.
• Strong attention to detail and premium finishing standards.

A strong portfolio demonstrating embroidery development, surface experimentation, swatches, artwork, and final garment executions is essential.

An existing network of embroidery vendors, artisans, karigars, and material suppliers will be an added advantage.
