A leading infrastructure development firm seeks an experienced MEP Director to lead the delivery of large-scale data centre construction projects across the Atlanta market and the broader Southeast region. This leadership role oversees all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and critical infrastructure systems from preconstruction through commissioning and operational handover.The MEP Director will drive technical execution, coordination, quality, and performance across multiple mission-critical projects, ensuring all systems are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide executive oversight for all MEP and critical systems activities across multiple data center construction projectsLead MEP strategy and execution from design development, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and turnoverManage and coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and BMS/controls scopesPartner closely with development, design, construction, operations, and commissioning teams to ensure seamless project deliveryOversee MEP budgeting, forecasting, cost controls, value engineering, and financial reportingDirect contractor and vendor selection processes, bid evaluations, scope reviews, and contract negotiationsEnsure compliance with project schedules, safety standards, QA/QC requirements, sustainability goals, and regulatory requirementsLead technical reviews of drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and field execution plansMentor and manage project managers, MEP managers, field engineers, and site teamsCoordinate commissioning activities, integrated systems testing, and infrastructure handover processesProvide executive-level reporting and project updates to internal and external stakeholdersSupport phased deployments and concurrent project execution across Georgia and the Southeast region
Requirements12+ years of experience in MEP or construction leadership roles, with significant mission-critical or data center experienceMinimum 5+ years in a senior leadership role overseeing MEP systems for data center or critical infrastructure projectsDeep expertise in electrical distribution, mechanical cooling systems, UPS systems, generators, switchgear, and critical infrastructureProven success managing large-scale, capital-intensive construction programs and multi-site teamsStrong understanding of commissioning, startup, integrated systems testing, and operational turnoverExperience managing MEP subcontractors, engineering consultants, vendors, and commissioning agentsStrong commercial and financial acumen with experience managing large project budgets and forecastingProficiency with Procore, Microsoft Project, BIM/VDC coordination tools, and construction cost management platformsExceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skillsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferredPMP, PE, or equivalent certification preferred
Preferred QualificationsExperience delivering multi-megawatt hyperscale or enterprise data center campusesStrong familiarity with Atlanta-area permitting agencies, subcontractor markets, and regional labor environmentsExperience supporting phased data center deployments and fast-track construction schedulesAbility to oversee multiple concurrent projects across Georgia and the SoutheastKnowledge of sustainability initiatives, energy efficiency strategies, and mission-critical best practices
