They are also the alternate unit for trauma, neurosurgery, and hospitalist patients. Nursing works closely with medical, surgical, and trauma intensivists to care for a varied patient population. The RN provides patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, and collaborates with the healthcare team to develop and adjust care plans while building clinical competency.
