About This RoleThe Senior Integration and Data Engineer is a key development role on our data team. You’ll report to the Director, Development, Data Strategy & Analytics, who is hands-on technically and owns data strategy, and work alongside two data analysts and the marketing team. You’ll bring experience in Python development, managing observability stacks, and owning data integrations, along with strong project management skills and a collaborative approach.
What You'll DoOwn the data integrations with Iterable, Bird and Twilio. Develop and maintain the pipelines that sync member profiles, events and engagement data; meet SLAs for data freshness and accuracy; serve as the technical point of contact with those vendors; develop strategies and solutions to meet the needs of Union Plus team members leveraging these systems.Manage our observability stack which leverages a variety of metric tools including Prometheus, Grafana and OpenTelemetry. Define what we monitor and alert on, build and maintain the dashboards the team uses to track integration and infrastructure health and lead the response when something breaks.Help manage, contribute to and monitor integrations developed in Python.Support the management, maintenance and auditing of Google Cloud infrastructure using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.Help manage and maintain Linux environments using VMs, Docker, etc.Contribute to strategy discussions around data architecture and data health using a variety of SQL, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases, and assist with implementation and remediation.Assist with additional internal and external data exchanges.Assist with API and CLI development.Assist with development and integration of testing frameworks, disaster recovery methodology and security.Partner with our Senior Marketing Data Analyst & Senior Analytics Coordinator to build the pipelines and Grafana / Google Analytics dashboards required by the team to manage our business effectively.
What We're Looking ForDevelopment tools and practices. Strong software development background, with proficiency in Git and ticketing systems, and technical documentation. Experience managing cloud infrastructures and several tools/environments mentioned in this job description. 4+ years’ experience with Python development and 2+ years experience integrating with a customer engagement or marketing automation platform (Iterable strongly preferred; Braze, Klaviyo, SFMC also relevant). Hands-on experience with a modern observability stack such as Prometheus, Grafana or OpenTelemetry.Data architecture and strategic thinking. You understand how data flows across systems and how to structure it for reliable analysis and activation. You connect business objectives to data requirements, uncover actionable insights, and make thoughtful strategic decisions that support scalable, measurable outcomes.Project management chops. You can run multiple projects at once and hit deadlines efficiently.Mission alignment. You care about working people and organized labor, or you're genuinely curious to learn.
