1. About NationBuilding Foundation of India

The NationBuilding Foundation of India (NBFI) is a “do-tank” focused on enabling people to contribute to NationBuilding by turning ideas, ambition, and intent into action. NBFI works across areas including engagement, health, scientific research, and public policy, with the aim of contributing to India's long-term development.


2. About the Role

NBFI is looking for a Social Media Manager to lead the organisation's online public-facing presence across its digital platforms. The role will be responsible for building NBFI's digital identity, managing its website and social media channels, creating and commissioning content, and ensuring that the organisation's ideas, initiatives, and work are communicated effectively to external audiences.

The role will involve both hands-on content creation and broader digital coordination, including building a social media function, managing external collaborators and influencers, and establishing processes for consistent and high-quality digital communication.


a. Key Responsibilities

● Manage NBFI's overall digital and social media presence, including its website and social media platforms.

● Develop and execute NBFI's social media and digital content strategy in line with its positioning, objectives, and initiatives.

● Create, curate, edit, and publish content across formats including written posts, graphics, short-form videos, newsletters, and other digital formats.

● Work closely with internal teams to identify stories, insights, milestones, events, and initiatives that can be translated into compelling public-facing content.

● Manage the NBFI website, including content updates, new pages, basic content architecture, and coordination with external developers or designers where required.

● Establish and maintain brand and content guidelines to ensure consistency across NBFI's digital presence.

● Identify, build, and manage relationships with influencers, creators, media professionals, and other relevant external voices to expand NBFI's reach.

● Plan and coordinate digital campaigns around NBFI's programs, initiatives, events, and key announcements.

● Build and manage a social media team and network of external content partners, including designers, videographers, writers, agencies, and other specialists.

● Develop content calendars, workflows, review processes, and systems to ensure consistent content delivery.

● Monitor social media performance, audience engagement, and emerging trends, and use these insights to improve content and reach.

● Ensure that all public-facing communication reflects NBFI's brand, tone, positioning, and institutional standards.


3. Desired skills

● Strong understanding of social media, digital content, and online audience engagement.

● Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and engaging manner.

● Strong content creation skills across written, visual, and short-form video formats.

● Ability to develop and execute content and social media strategies.

● Strong understanding of brand building and digital communication.

● Ability to manage websites and coordinate with designers, developers, and other external vendors.

● Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills.

● Ability to identify compelling stories and translate organisational work into engaging public-facing content.

● Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple content streams and deadlines.

● Creative, proactive, and highly attentive to quality and detail.


4. Eligibility criteria

● Relevant experience in social media management, digital marketing, content, communications, branding, or related roles.

● Demonstrated experience managing social media channels and developing content for an organisation, brand, or institution.

● Experience managing external creators, agencies, influencers, or digital partners will be an advantage.

● Candidates with a strong portfolio of relevant digital and social media work are encouraged to apply.
