Travel Datacenter Technician (Fiber, ISP, OSP) (Multiple Locations)

*Client is Google Fiber*3-5 years of experience as a Data Center Technician*Fiber, Data center, ISP background*On-site in Denver, CO, Seattle, Miami, LA, Chicago (Must sit in theses areas)- will be traveling 75% of the time to other data centers across the country*MUST be comfortable with travel- fully expensed by a travel agency

The ideal candidate will have experience installing,troubleshooting, upgrading, and deploying fiber optic infrastructure intelecom, ISP, FTTH, or outside plant environments. This person will work in thefield at Google Fiber huts and network locations throughout the region,supporting hardware upgrades, fiber installations, network expansion projects,and operational troubleshooting.
Candidates who enjoy hands-on field work, travel, andworking directly with fiber infrastructure will be highly successful in thisrole.
Must-Have Qualifications
4+ years of experience in telecommunications, fiber optics, network deployment, or related field servicesExperience installing, deploying, upgrading, and troubleshooting fiber optic infrastructureUnderstanding of fiber optic cabling, fiber handling, and fiber installation best practicesExperience working in telecom, ISP, FTTH (Fiber to the Home), data center, or network deployment environmentsAbility to follow deployment procedures, installation playbooks, and technical documentationUnderstanding of basic networking concepts, IP addressing, and network connectivity validationAbility to travel extensively (75-100%)
Preferred Qualifications
Fiber splicing experienceExperience working with optical transport or DWDM environmentsFamiliarity with optical light levels and fiber testingExperience supporting Google Fiber, telecom carriers, ISPs, or broadband providersCCNA, CCENT, JNCIA, or related networking certificationsExperience working inside network huts, headends, COs, or telecom facilitiesOwnership of personal fiber optic installation tools and cable preparation tools

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Deploy new network equipment and support infrastructure upgrades across Google Fiber locationsInstall, route, terminate, and troubleshoot fiber optic cablingPerform network deployment activities within fiber huts and network facilitiesUpgrade existing infrastructure based on new materials, designs, and deployment standardsValidate connectivity and troubleshoot deployment-related issuesFollow deployment runbooks and installation proceduresWork closely with engineering, operations, and deployment teams to ensure successful network expansion projectsTravel to multiple Google Fiber sites to support ongoing deployment and upgrade initiatives
