DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Buyer to support purchasing and supply chain activities within a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment.The Buyer will work closely with Purchasing, Program Management, Production, and vendors to ensure materials are available to meet production requirements and customer deadlines. This position requires someone who can multitask, work independently, take initiative, and work well as part of a team.The ideal candidate will have previous purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment and strong experience working with MRP/ERP systems.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesWork closely with Program Management to manage the supply chain for various customer programsPurchase materials and services in support of production and operational requirementsMonitor open Purchase Orders and confirm delivery dates with vendorsExpedite material shortages and maintain accurate PO datesHelp maintain appropriate inventory levels and support annual inventory-turn targetsProactively identify and address potential material shortages to prevent production delaysEnsure purchasing costs remain aligned with estimated and targeted costsParticipate in cost-savings initiatives to improve program marginsManage excess customer material levels and communicate issues with Program ManagementManage MRO Purchase Orders and consigned materialReview and resolve non-conforming or non-receivable materialsIdentify opportunities for cost reduction and purchasing improvementsNegotiate pricing and cost savings with suppliersNegotiate and maintain purchase and cash discounts when appropriateCoordinate inventory availability and production schedule information across Program Management, Purchasing, Stockroom, Manufacturing, Test, Quality, and EngineeringSupport special projects and other supply chain initiatives as neededPerform duties in accordance with company policies and procedures
QualificationsExperience working with MRP/ERP systems requiredPrevious purchasing/buyer experience within a manufacturing environmentStrong organizational and multitasking skillsAbility to work independently and take initiativeStrong communication and vendor-management skillsAbility to prioritize multiple purchasing requirements and deadlinesStrong problem-solving skillsAbility to work effectively across multiple departmentsTeam-oriented with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships xzbcwsv Electronics manufacturing, EMS, PCB/PCBA, or similar industry experience preferred
Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related discipline highly desirable3–5 years of related purchasing/supply chain experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienceManufacturing purchasing experience preferred
Computer SkillsStrong experience with MRP/ERP softwareMicrosoft OfficeExperience with Infor ERP/MRP preferred
