Structural design engineer
Floatex Solar · Delhi, India
Job Description
Role Summary
Own the end-to-end structural, mechanical, and site-engineering design of solar platform systems — floating while ensuring designs account for site hydrology, flood risk, and water-body conditions relevant to floating installations.
Key Responsibilities
Structural & Mechanical Design
Lead structural design of floating platform systems: float modules, walkways, and module mounting structures (MMS). Design pile foundations and anchoring systems for floating structures, based on soil, bathymetric, and site parameters. Prepare design basis reports for floating structures, foundations, and equipment platforms. Evaluate and select float construction materials (Ferro-cement, HDPE, or hybrid), weighing buoyancy, durability, and cost. Perform structural analysis and modelling using STAAD. Pro, Solid Works, and Auto CAD. Prepare GA, fabrication, and assembly drawings for module mount structures, walkways, lightning arrestor systems, and safety rails. Build 3 D models and renders of solar plants (Solid Works/Sketch Up), including shadow analysis and walk-throughs. Review and approve fabrication and installation drawings; prepare installation manuals for site/construction teams.Required Qualifications & Experience B. Tech/B. E. in Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering (a Ph D or advanced qualification in Water Resources/Hydraulics is a strong plus for the hydrology-facing aspects of this role). 10+ years of experience in structural/mechanical design of solar structures (floating and/or ground-mounted). Direct experience with floating solar or marine floating structures strongly preferred; Ferro-cement float system experience preferred (HDPE experience acceptable with a learning curve). Strong command of STAAD. Pro, Solid Works, and Auto CAD; Sketch Up a plus.
