Job Description
HR Policy Review Project Lead
All potential applicants are encouraged to scroll through and read the complete job description before applying.
We are seeking a HR policy contractor to deliver a time-bound review of a defined set of employee policies across a multi-divisional organisation. The role is delivery-focused: reviewing current people policies, ensuring they are fit for purpose legislatively, where needed, coordinating inputs from multiple HR teams to update the policies, shaping those inputs into a clear and consistent Group-wide policy position, and driving policies through to completion and readiness for legal review. This is not a “policy owner per policy” model. The contractor will act as the central engine of progress, ensuring momentum, coherence and quality across the policy suite.
Contract type: Day-rate. Up to £350 per day, inside IR35 via umb.
Duration: initially 3 month contract with a view to be extended.
Working pattern: Flexible (on-site / hybrid / remote to be agreed)
The assignment
Review the existing set of policies.
Ensure each policy has:
A Group-wide core policy document (common principles, standards and expectations) and supporting documents.
Clear articulation of where divisional variations sit via local processes, workflows or guidance.
Key deliverables
For each policy:
A finalised Group-wide core policy document, with consistent tone, structure and language.
Clear identification and separation of divisional differences.
Policies aligned with current UK employment law and good practice, ready for legal review.
A completed policy suite that can move directly into governance/sign-off.
Key responsibilities
Take ownership of policy review and updating as needed.
Coordinate inputs from divisional HR representatives and set clear expectations on timing and contribution.
Actively manage progress, challenging drift and driving timely decisions.
Draft, integrate and refine content to ensure clarity, consistency and usability.
Apply sound working knowledge of UK employment law and recent legislative changes to inform policy drafting.
Identify issues or risks requiring legal input and prepare documents for formal legal review.
What we're looking for
Strong background in HR policy development and review, ideally in complex or multi-entity environments.
Proven ability to lead delivery without formal authority, bringing structure and pace to competing stakeholder inputs.
Excellent drafting and editing skills, able to turn varied contributions into clear, coherent policy documents. xrexnqw
Solid working knowledge of UK employment law (legal expertise not required; judgement is).
Pragmatic, delivery-oriented mindset with a track record of finishing work.
