This hybrid assignment is well suited for a detail-oriented apparel professional with deep denim expertise and hands-on experience bringing garments from concept through production. Position Details Employment Type: Freelance / Temporary Work Arrangement: Hybrid; minimum three days per week onsite Reporting To: Director, Technical Design Assignment Length: 3+ months Start Date: As soon as possible About the Role The Freelance Technical Designer - Denim will help ensure consistent fit, construction, quality, and measurement accuracy across denim products throughout the development lifecycle. This individual will collaborate with Design, Production, and external vendors to translate creative direction into production-ready garments while maintaining established fit and quality standards. What You'll Do Evaluate prototype, fit, and production samples for measurements, construction, quality, and overall garment fit. Lead fit sessions and clearly document feedback, decisions, and required corrections. Create, update, and maintain technical packages, fit comments, measurement specifications, and sample records. Communicate fit and development feedback to vendors through written reports, sketches, pattern corrections, and direct conversations. Partner with Design and Production teams to ensure product intent is accurately executed. Maintain fit standards and support consistency in construction across the denim assortment. Track sample status and maintain organized development reports and sample archives. Participate in fittings, product-development meetings, milestone reviews, and approvals as needed. Support additional technical design activities and special projects as assigned. What You Bring Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Apparel Production, or equivalent relevant experience. Five or more years of technical design experience, including demonstrated denim product expertise. Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, pattern corrections, measurements, and production processes. Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners, including Design, Production, Merchandising, and vendors. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document fit and development feedback clearly. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple samples and deadlines simultaneously. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
