Each year we receive around 100,000 applications worldwide. In order to enhance the application process and applicant experience, we are seeking to appoint an Admissions Lead in our office in India.

Job purpose

The Admissions Lead is a member of the central Admissions leadership team and works collaboratively with the Deputy Head of Admissions (Undergraduate), Deputy Head of Admissions (Postgraduate) and Deputy Head of Admissions (Operations), to support the Director of Admissions in meeting Queen Mary’s strategic objectives for student recruitment to all modes and level of study from undergraduate foundation to doctoral study. The postholder has lead responsibility for delivering an effective admissions service, including the development and implementation of policy, procedure and processes that support admissions across the university. In common with all members of the Admissions management team, they play a key role in effective management of change and continuous improvement projects, ensuring that systems and resources are aligned to deliver Queen Mary’s ambitious strategy for student recruitment.

Duties and responsibilities

  • To work collaboratively with the Admissions leadership and management team based in London to ensure that Admissions resources are deployed flexibly to deliver high quality, efficient and effective admissions services for all levels and modes of study from undergraduate foundation to doctoral study.
  • To lead and manage the Admissions team based in one of the University’s Regional Offices, taking responsibility for appraisal, development, training and any disciplinary matters that arise.
  • To monitor and evaluate the performance of the Admissions team based in Delhi, India in relation to agreed service standards and key performance indicators, ensuring that adjustments are made as necessary to secure the maintenance of a consistently high quality service.
  • To be responsible for the development, dissemination and implementation of fair and effective admissions policy and procedure, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory and legal frameworks.
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues in the Global Engagement team, to ensure that the admissions service is effectively aligned to meet institutional strategic objectives.

Minimum work Experience - Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years experience in Admissions roles.

Person specification

The successful candidate will be expected to display the following skills and attributes:

Essential :-

Strategic Leadership - Recent extensive experience of working in leadership or management role in Admissions within a higher education context

Strategic Leadership - Experience of developing and implementing policies and procedures in a professional services function in a UK university.

Resource Planning - Experience of managing staff and leading and motivating teams through periods of change. The ability to acquire knowledge rapidly, to assimilate and analyse new information, and to develop clear communications and solutions to any issues that arise

Admissions Operations Management - Knowledge and understanding of the legislative and policy framework within which UK HE admissions operates, including fair admissions policy, the national quality assurance framework, fee status assessment, immigration policy and consumer protection legislation.

Systems Management, Technical Skills, Essential Knowledge

In-depth knowledge of a student records system and its use in processing applications, preferably SITS
