About the Position
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Principal to provide academic leadership, administrative direction, and strategic guidance to a B.Tech Engineering College. The Principal will be responsible for ensuring academic excellence, regulatory compliance, faculty development, student progression, industry engagement, and the overall effective functioning of the institution.
The ideal candidate should have strong academic credentials, substantial experience in engineering education, proven institutional leadership experience, and a thorough understanding of the regulatory and accreditation framework applicable to technical education.
Key Responsibilities
1. Academic Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership for all academic programmes and departments.
- Ensure effective implementation of curriculum, academic calendars, teaching plans, examinations, and assessment systems.
- Monitor teaching-learning processes and maintain high academic standards.
- Promote innovative teaching methodologies, research, consultancy, and industry-oriented education.
- Review academic performance and implement improvement initiatives where required.
2. Faculty & Staff Management
- Lead, mentor, and motivate faculty members and administrative teams.
- Ensure appropriate faculty deployment, workload allocation, attendance, performance monitoring, and professional development.
- Facilitate faculty development programmes, workshops, seminars, and training initiatives.
- Encourage research publications, funded projects, consultancy, patents, and academic collaborations.
3. Regulatory & Accreditation Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements relating to technical education.
- Coordinate with regulatory and affiliating bodies as applicable.
- Maintain institutional documentation and records required for inspections, approvals, accreditation, and affiliation.
- Lead institutional preparation for accreditation, audits, inspections, and academic reviews.
4. Student Development
- Ensure a positive academic environment and effective student support systems.
- Monitor student attendance, academic performance, discipline, progression, and overall development.
- Promote technical events, seminars, workshops, hackathons, clubs, competitions, internships, and industry exposure.
- Strengthen career guidance, training, and placement initiatives.
5. Training & Placement / Industry Interface
- Develop strong relationships with industries, professional bodies, and corporate organisations.
- Support internship and placement opportunities for students.
- Encourage industry-sponsored projects, MoUs, guest lectures, industrial visits, and collaborative programmes.
- Strengthen the employability and industry readiness of graduates.
6. Institutional Administration
- Oversee the day-to-day academic and administrative functioning of the college.
- Coordinate with HODs, faculty members, administrative departments, students, parents, and management.
- Participate in meetings of academic and administrative committees.
- Ensure effective utilisation of institutional infrastructure and resources.
- Maintain discipline, professionalism, and a productive working environment across the campus.
7. Strategic Development
- Develop and implement institutional academic and strategic plans.
- Identify opportunities for new programmes, collaborations, research initiatives, and institutional growth.
- Promote the institution's academic reputation and engagement with external stakeholders.
- Prepare and review institutional performance reports for the Management/Governing Body.
Educational Qualification
- Ph.D. in Engineering/Technology or an allied discipline from a recognised university/institution.
- Bachelor's and Master's degree in Engineering/Technology with a strong academic record.
- The candidate should fulfil the applicable qualification and experience requirements prescribed by the relevant regulatory/affiliating authorities.
Required Experience
- Minimum 15 years of academic/teaching experience in Engineering/Technology education, with substantial experience in higher education administration.
- Preferably 5 years or more of experience in a senior academic/administrative leadership position , such as Principal, Director, Dean, HOD, or equivalent.
- Experience in managing a B.Tech/Engineering institution will be highly desirable.
- Proven experience in academic administration, accreditation, regulatory compliance, faculty management, and institutional development.
- Experience in handling inspections, affiliation/approval processes, academic audits, and accreditation activities will be an advantage.
