About the Role:SME has new full-time positions for entry-level to mid-level Civil Engineers in our Chicago, IL office to support our land development projects including municipal infrastructure and community resiliency, commercial development, coastal stabilization, renewable energy and utility projects, industrial, and residential developments. The combination of Sewall’s legacy and expertise in civil engineering and survey alongside SME’s multidisciplinary suite of services offers a strong collection of experience and an incredible opportunity for career growth for the right individuals, all within one company. Civil Engineer Responsibilities:Manage and design a diverse portfolio of projectsPerform engineering design from preliminary to final designSpend time in the field to gain hands-on experience overseeing construction projectsEstablish relationships and communicate with clientsWork closely with a project team to coordinate designs, manage workflow, and participate in project decisionsTake advantage of meaningful opportunities to learn and grow toward your potentialBe supported by experienced senior engineers who are invested in your success
Civil Engineer Qualifications:B.S. in Civil Engineering and 2+ years of experienceAbility to multitask and prioritize effectivelyDemonstrate initiative to find answers and solve problems proactivelyAuthorization to work in the U.S. requiredStrong oral and written communication skills

Compensation & Benefits: Salary range is $65,000 - $75,000 based on experience, qualifications, and the responsibilities of the position. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including 100% employer-paid employee medical coverage, a generous HSA contribution, 100% employer-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance. Employees are eligible to participate in our 401(k) plan after one year of employment and 1,000 hours of service and are immediately 100% vested in employer Safe Harbor, matching (up to 10%), and profit-sharing contributions. We also offer discretionary bonuses.
