Position Summary

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive diagnostic imaging services while contributing to the continued development of an innovative academic imaging service. Initial responsibilities will focus on clinical service, imaging consultation, hospital collaboration, and curriculum development.

Diagnostic Imaging at SSVM

The Diagnostic Imaging Service is central to SSVM's mission of delivering exceptional patient care while preparing graduates who are confident in the interpretation and application of advanced diagnostic imaging.

Our service is designed to:

• Deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging consultation across all clinical services
• Provide advanced imaging support for companion animal patients
• Collaborate closely with Primary Care, Urgent Care, and specialty clinicians
• Deliver timely, clinically relevant interpretations that improve patient outcomes

The Diagnostic Imaging Service is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including a GE 3 Tesla MRI, 128-slice CT scanner, digital radiography, ultrasonography, and integrated imaging systems that support a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

Faculty work closely with specialists in Neurology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Dentistry & Oral Surgery, Primary Care, Urgent Care, Anesthesia & Pain Management, and expanding specialty services including Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, and Dermatology.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide diagnostic interpretation of radiography, ultrasonography, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies
• Perform advanced diagnostic imaging procedures, including ultrasonography and image-guided techniques, as appropriate
• Consult with clinical faculty to guide diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making
• Develop imaging protocols, quality assurance initiatives, and workflow processes
• Participate in development of the diagnostic imaging curriculum and pre-clinical educational experiences
• Prepare for future clinical teaching and mentorship of veterinary students
• Engage in scholarly activity and collaborative clinical research
• Contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive hospital culture

Required Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree
• Board certification or board eligibility through the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) or the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI)
• Eligibility for veterinary licensure in New Jersey
• Demonstrated expertise in diagnostic imaging, including radiography, ultrasonography, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary specialty hospital
• Adaptability, initiative, and enthusiasm for helping build a growing academic Diagnostic Imaging Service

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous teaching, mentoring, or academic experience
• Interest in veterinary imaging education and curriculum development
• Interest in clinical research or scholarly activity
• Experience developing imaging protocols or quality improvement initiatives
• Interest in advancing diagnostic imaging within a collaborative academic environment

Salary and Benefits

In accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act, the anticipated salary range for this position is $175,000$290,000 annually , commensurate with qualifications, experience, clinical expertise, academic rank, appointment track, and appointment percentage. Final salary will be determined at the time of offer.

Academic Appointment

This is an open-rank faculty appointment (Instructor through Full Professor) available on either the Clinical Track or Tenure Track , depending on qualifications, experience, and professional goals.

Both full-time and part-time appointments will be considered. Faculty rank, appointment track, responsibilities, and effort allocation will be determined at the time of appointment based on the successful candidate's qualifications, career interests, and the needs of the School.
