As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll support our doctors and technicians while helping provide excellent care to our patients. Responsibilities may include:
- Assist veterinarians and technicians during appointments, treatments, and procedures
- Safely restrain and handle dogs and cats
- Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for appointments and procedures
- Assist with surgical preparation and patient recovery
- Support blood draws, laboratory sample collection, and diagnostic testing
- Assist with radiographs and other diagnostic procedures
- Administer medications and treatments under the direction of the veterinary team
- Monitor and provide basic nursing care for hospitalized patients
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain treatment, surgical, and patient areas
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients
- Maintain accurate patient information and medical records
- Work closely with doctors, technicians, and fellow assistants to keep the hospital running smoothly
- Previous veterinary assistant or animal care experience preferred
- Comfortable safely handling and restraining dogs and cats
- Strong communication and client service skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn and continue developing veterinary skills
- Dependable, positive, and team-oriented
- Comfortable assisting with cleaning and maintaining hospital areas as needed
- Experience with Cornerstone Practice Management Software
