Role: Technical Curriculum Developer

The Opportunity

Black Box is building its training function from the ground up, and this is the foundational hire. You will create the training content that enables our sales teams, engineers, channel partners, and customers to understand, deploy, and get the most out of our products. This is not a role where someone hands you a script. You will get into the lab, learn the products hands-on, and translate that knowledge into structured training modules that work for both technical and commercial audiences.

What You Will Own

• Training Content Creation - Design and develop structured training modules, courses, and certification paths covering product functionality, deployment scenarios, and troubleshooting. Build assessments and quizzes that validate learner comprehension at each stage. Your content will serve multiple audiences: sales teams who need to position and sell the portfolio, engineering and support teams who need technical depth, and customers and channel partners who need to deploy and operate our solutions confidently.
• Product Learning and Collaboration - Become a product expert through hands-on lab work. Set up, configure, and operate Black Box solutions to build the depth of understanding required to teach others effectively. Work closely with product management and marketing to receive use cases, deployment scenarios, and market context, and ensure training content aligns with product launches, positioning, and go-to-market priorities.
• AI-Powered Content Development - Leverage AI tools for presentation, video production, and course delivery. Use platforms such as Synthesia, ElevenLabs, and similar technologies to create scalable, professional training content efficiently. Stay current with emerging AI capabilities and continuously evaluate how they can improve content quality and production speed.
• Content Standards and Framework - Establish the templates, formats, and quality standards that will scale as the training function grows. Document your methodology to ensure consistency and repeatability across all training content.
• Continuous Improvement Keep training content current as products evolve. Incorporate new features, firmware updates, and market feedback into existing materials on an ongoing basis.

What You Must Know

• AV/IT or KVM technologies: familiarity with video extension, switching, signal distribution, or related infrastructure technologies
• Instructional design fundamentals: how to structure a curriculum, sequence learning objectives, and build effective assessments
• Content development tools: experience with e-learning authoring platforms ( Articulate, Captivate, or similar ), video production, and LMS administration
• Technical self-sufficiency: ability to work independently in a lab environment, follow technical documentation, and learn complex hardware and software products without hand-holding

Qualifications

Required:

• 5-7 years of experience in technical training content development, instructional design, or technical writing for hardware or infrastructure products
• Demonstrated ability to take a complex technical product and break it down into clear, structured learning paths
• Experience creating training content for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Hands-on experience with lab environments and test equipment
• Experience building a training program or content library from scratch
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills

Strongly preferred:

• Hands-on experience using AI-powered tools for content creation, video production, or course delivery ( Synthesia, ElevenLabs, or similar )
• Experience in the AV, KVM, broadcast, or IT infrastructure industry

Valued but not required:

• Familiarity with video processing, signal distribution, or networked AV technologies

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical or educational field
