Job Description – Assistant Manager– T&E Policy & Compliance
Role Summary
This role is within the T&E Policy & Compliance function supporting North America and other regions as applicable.
The associate will serve as an advanced individual contributor responsible for driving end-to-end T&E compliance, policy interpretation, audit execution, automation initiatives, and transformation programs. The role requires deep expertise in Travel & Expense policies, compliance frameworks, audit methodologies, and expense management systems. The individual will act as a subject matter expert for complex compliance matters, lead process improvement initiatives, support audit automation deployments, and partner with stakeholders to strengthen the overall control environment.
In addition to performing all T&E responsibilities, the associate will provide strategic guidance on policy interpretation, manage complex audit investigations, drive transformation projects, and support process transitions and knowledge transfer activities.
Responsibilities
Policy & Compliance Management
- Develop and maintain advanced subject matter expertise in T&E policies, compliance requirements, and corporate governance standards.
- Interpret and apply T&E policies to complex and ambiguous expense scenarios while ensuring consistent and compliant outcomes.
- Identify compliance risks, control gaps, and emerging trends through audit reviews and data analysis.
- Provide recommendations for policy enhancements and control optimization.
Audit Operations
- Manage and execute end-to-end T&E audit (both pre and post-payment) activities across supported regions.
- Review complex, high-risk, and escalated expense transactions requiring advanced policy interpretation.
- Conduct root cause analysis of recurring compliance issues and recommend sustainable corrective actions.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of audit reviews while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
- Support internal and external audit requirements related to employee expenses and T&E controls.
- Support employee communication, awareness, and compliance training initiatives.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex inquiries related to T&E policy and compliance.
- Build strong partnerships with Corp Card, Travel, Procurement, Global Process Owners, and business leaders.
- Deliver policy guidance, compliance insights, and business recommendations to stakeholders.
Process Excellence & Transformation
- Lead process improvement and transformation initiatives focused on enhancing efficiency, compliance, user experience, and cost savings.
- Drive standardization of T&E compliance processes across regions and business units.
- Utilize data analytics and insights to identify opportunities for automation and process optimization.
- Lead or support Business Process Improvement (BPI) initiatives and track resulting benefits.
Audit Automation & Technology
- Support the design, deployment, enhancement, and governance of T&E audit automation tools and compliance monitoring solutions.
- Partner with technology teams and vendors to implement automated audit controls and compliance workflows.
- Leverage automation and analytics to improve audit coverage, risk identification, and operational efficiency.
- Serve as a functional expert for Concur and other T&E audit technologies.
Process Transition & Knowledge Management
- Support process migrations, transitions, and stabilization activities.
- Lead knowledge transfer sessions and develop process documentation, SOPs, training materials, and control frameworks.
- Ensure successful handoff and operational readiness during new process implementations and transitions.
- Promote knowledge sharing and best practices across global teams.
Upstream & Downstream Process Management
- Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of end-to-end T&E processes, including upstream and downstream impacts across Finance, Tax, Compliance, and Reporting functions.
- Assess business impacts of policy exceptions, process changes, and system enhancements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure process alignment and control effectiveness.
Qualifications Required
Education
- Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 10 -12 years of experience in Travel & Expense Audit, Policy, Compliance.
- Extensive experience with Concur Expense and related T&E platforms.
- Expert in MS Office suit (including Excel, PowerPoint & Power-Bi)
- Excellent communications skills (verbal & written) & presentation skills
- Proven experience handling complex audit reviews, compliance investigations, and policy interpretation.
- Hands-on experience in T&E audit automation tool deployment or compliance technology implementations.
- Demonstrated success leading process improvement, transformation, and standardization initiatives.
- Experience managing process transitions, knowledge transfer, and stabilization activities.
- Strong understanding of internal controls, governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
- Location: Hyderabad.
