About Conserve India

Conserve India is a Delhi-based non-profit working at the intersection of circular economy, sustainable livelihoods, waste-to-wealth innovation, and inclusive value chain development. Since 1998, Conserve India has worked with communities, artisans, waste workers, MSMEs, institutions, and industry partners to create practical models that combine environmental sustainability with livelihood generation.

In the textile circularity space, Conserve India works on strengthening circular textile value chains through textile waste recovery, sorting and segregation systems, upcycling, recycling linkages, circular product development, MSME engagement, and community-led livelihood models. Our work focuses on converting textile and other waste streams into economic opportunities while supporting inclusive participation of women, informal workers, artisans, and grassroots enterprises. Conserve India’s approach combines field implementation, stakeholder engagement, research, capacity building, and cluster-based circular economy solutions to support India’s transition towards more responsible, traceable, and inclusive textile waste systems..

About the Project

The project seeks to strengthen circular textile systems in Panipat by working with textile-waste sorting and recycling enterprises, workers, industry stakeholders and ecosystem partners. The project will support improvements in material identification and sorting, worker wellbeing and inclusion, quality and traceability, enterprise development and cluster-level collaboration.

Role Overview

The Project Manager will lead the on-ground planning, implementation and coordination of the project in Panipat. The role requires strong field leadership, stakeholder management and project-management capabilities, along with an understanding of textile manufacturing, recycling, circular economy, MSME development or related sectors. The Project Manager will be responsible for translating the project strategy into actionable workplans, building relationships with participating enterprises and stakeholders, supervising field implementation, managing the project team and ensuring timely delivery of outputs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead project planning and implementation in accordance with the approved objectives, workplan, budget and timelines.
  • Develop detailed activity plans, implementation schedules, stakeholder-engagement plans and project trackers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with sorting facilities, textile enterprises, industry associations, government bodies, technical institutions, workers’ representatives and project partners.
  • Facilitate enterprise assessments, consultations, workshops, training activities and technical-support interventions.
  • Coordinate the work of project staff, consultants and thematic experts, and ensure clear allocation and follow-up of responsibilities.
  • Monitor project progress, risks, dependencies and implementation challenges, and initiate timely corrective action.
  • Ensure that worker inclusion, safety, dignity and participation are integrated across project activities.
  • Oversee the collection and quality of project data, field evidence, stakeholder records and monitoring information.
  • Prepare and review progress reports, presentations, meeting documents, implementation updates and donor deliverables.
  • Coordinate with Conserve India’s Delhi-based team on documentation, research, monitoring, finance, procurement and administrative requirements.
  • Represent the project in meetings, consultations and other external engagements, as authorised by Conserve India.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in management, engineering, textiles, environmental studies, sustainability, development studies, social sciences or a related field.
  • Approximately 6–10 years of relevant professional experience, including substantial responsibility for project or programme implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing field teams, workplans, budgets, deliverables and multi-stakeholder partnerships.
  • Strong stakeholder-engagement and relationship-management capabilities, particularly with enterprises, MSMEs, industry bodies or institutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in Hindi and English.
  • Ability to prepare and review reports, presentations, trackers and other project-management documents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to be based in Panipat and undertake regular field travel.

Experience in textile manufacturing or recycling, waste management, circular economy, MSME or cluster development, worker-centred programmes, sustainability, livelihoods, CSR or foundation-supported projects would be advantageous.
