Traveling Project Manager – Data Center / Mission Critical

Scott Humphrey Corporation · Remote, United States

FULL TIMEfull time

Job Description

United States (true traveler — live anywhere, national travel required) | $200K–$280K+ total package

About the Company

A top-tier national general contractor with a major presence in mission-critical and data center construction, plus corporate interiors, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, and industrial work. Known for complex, high-profile projects, a relationship-driven culture, and a strong record of promoting from within, the firm is expanding its data center operations across Texas and beyond.

Job Description

The Project Manager leads the delivery of large-scale data center and mission-critical projects from planning through closeout. This is a true traveling role — candidates can be based anywhere in the U.S. as long as they're able to travel to the project. Relocating to a regional office is optional, not required. Teams typically spend around two years on a project before having a say in where they go next.

Select Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of project delivery — preconstruction coordination, procurement, buyout, scheduling, cost control, and closeout
  • Own project budgets, forecasts, schedules, and overall financial performance
  • Lead subcontractor coordination and complex trade packages on mission-critical work
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
  • Serve as primary point of contact with owners, design teams, and trade partners
  • Drive quality and safety standards across the jobsite
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues affecting cost, schedule, or quality

Ideal Candidate

  • Proven Project Manager experience delivering data center, mission-critical, or similarly complex commercial projects
  • Strong command of project controls, budgets, scheduling, and subcontractor management
  • Genuine willingness to travel nationally for extended project assignments
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

Compensation & Total Package

  • Total annualized package commonly reaches $200K–$280K+ when you combine base, bonus, per diem, and allowances
  • Competitive base salary (~$110K–$150K depending on experience; higher at the Senior PM level)
  • Performance- and profitability-based bonus program with real upside — top performers see significant annual bonuses
  • Weekly per diem (~$1,246/week; ~$58K+/year on current projects) — largely tax-advantaged while traveling
  • Vehicle and fuel allowance (~$12,600/year)
  • Best-in-class medical (PPO + employer-funded HSA), dental, and vision
  • Employer-matched 401(k) (pre-tax + Roth), company-paid life/AD&D, plus voluntary disability, accident, critical illness, and pet insurance
  • Generous PTO (~18 days to start, ~23 at 5+ years), paid holidays, parental/family leave, tuition and wellness reimbursement
