Sr. Software Engineering Manager, AI & Platform Modernization

Our client is looking for a hands-on engineering leader to guide the modernization of legacy applications into AI-ready enterprise platforms. This role blends team leadership with active technical work: you will manage a small group of engineers, shape platform architecture, and turn the organization's AI strategy into a practical roadmap that delivers scalable, reliable systems.

ResponsibilitiesLead and develop a full-stack team of employees and contractors, setting engineering standards, practices, and prioritiesOwn application architecture and technology choices, lead design and code reviews, and work through complex technical problemsMentor developers through hands-on example, building prototypes and proofs of concept that establish patterns for the team to scaleWork with business analysts to deliver secure, maintainable, production-ready solutionsTranslate enterprise AI strategy into platform roadmaps, and define the AI/ML and agentic operations approach, including tooling and standardsCollaborate with data, security, and infrastructure teams on end-to-end AI architecture covering compute, model lifecycle, and deploymentLead build-vs.-buy decisions, platform and tool evaluations, and cost/performance tradeoffsDesign and scale cloud infrastructure on Azure and Snowflake, balancing near-term needs with long-term growth
ExperienceBachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, IT, or a related field, or equivalent experience5+ years of software development and architecture experience on production applicationsTrack record of leading, mentoring, and setting technical direction for engineering teams, including across distributed groupsStrong skills in Python, React, TypeScript, C#, .NET/ASP.NET Core, REST APIs, and SQL and/or PostgreSQLSolid grasp of architecture, security, CI/CD, scalability, and observabilityKnowledge of AI/ML ecosystems and of designing MLOps and AIOps frameworks at enterprise scaleComfort working through ambiguity and presenting technical ideas clearly to senior and executive (VP/SVP) audiences
