Key Responsibilities

Engineering Strategy & Service Ownership

  • Defines the engineering strategy, standards, and technical direction for enterprise data center resident infrastructure.
  • Develops technology roadmaps in collaboration with enterprise infrastructure teams while establishing the engineering standards and operational capabilities required to deploy and support those technologies within Lowe's enterprise data centers.
  • Establishes the engineering standards and operational capabilities that enable enterprise infrastructure technologies to be consistently deployed, integrated, and supported within Lowe's enterprise data centers.
  • Serves as the engineering owner for deployment engineering, infrastructure automation, hardware management platforms, engineering tooling, and related engineering services.
  • Influences capital planning, technology investments, vendor evaluations, and purchasing decisions through technical expertise and long-term strategic planning.

Platform Engineering & Infrastructure Lifecycle

  • Establishes engineering standards governing server, network, storage, and specialty infrastructure deployed within Lowe's enterprise data centers.
  • Oversees firmware lifecycle management, interoperability validation, engineering certification, laboratory testing, rack integration standards, server management platforms, console management infrastructure, and engineering automation capabilities.
  • Monitors the health and lifecycle status of enterprise data center infrastructure, identifying aging, unsupported, underutilized, or abandoned technologies and partnering with technology domain owners to drive refresh, modernization, and decommissioning activities while improving overall platform health.
  • Evaluates emerging technologies and develops engineering recommendations that improve operational capabilities while reducing technical risk and vendor dependency.

Engineering Operations & Operational Excellence

  • Establishes and continuously improves the engineering operating model, deployment methodologies, workflow capabilities, and technical standards supporting physical infrastructure deployments across Lowe's enterprise data centers.
  • Drives continuous improvement through standardization, Infrastructure as Code, hardware automation, engineering governance, process optimization, and operational readiness.
  • Maintains engineering asset information within the enterprise Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platform and ensures accurate integration with enterprise Configuration Management processes to support Configuration Item (CI) lifecycle management and CMDB integrity.
  • Leverages operational metrics, engineering analytics, and business insights to evaluate organizational effectiveness, prioritize investments, and drive continuous improvement.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Communication

  • Provides technical leadership across organizational boundaries by building trusted partnerships with technology, operations, architecture, facilities, business partners, technology domain teams, and vendors to align priorities, remove organizational barriers, and promote a One Team culture.
  • Represents Infrastructure Engineering in enterprise planning activities, architecture discussions, modernization initiatives, and strategic technology programs.
  • Communicates engineering strategy and complex technical concepts to technical and business audiences while influencing enterprise technology decisions through collaboration, technical credibility, and data-driven recommendations.

People Leadership

  • Develops a high-performing engineering organization by strengthening engineering discipline, building technical capability, coaching future engineering leaders, and creating an environment where accountability, continuous learning, and servant leadership drive organizational excellence.
  • Attracts, develops, and retains exceptional engineering talent while establishing clear expectations, providing meaningful coaching, recognizing accomplishments, and fostering professional growth.
  • Creates a culture where accountability, collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence reinforce one another while encouraging engineers to challenge existing processes and develop modern engineering solutions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, CIS, or related field (or equivalent work experience in a related field)
  • 8 years of experience in Information Technology
  • 4 years of experience working across multiple domains, platforms, or specialty areas in Infrastructure Engineering
  • 3 years of experience leading projects or technical teams with or without formal direct report responsibility; this includes experience providing technical direction, thought leadership, coaching and mentoring to team members

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, CIS, Engineering, or related field
  • 3 years of experience leading infrastructure engineering, technical process management, project management, IT consulting, or related technical functions.
  • 3 years of experience partnering with enterprise technology vendors and solution providers.
  • 2 years of direct people leadership experience.
  • 2 years of leadership experience within a large matrixed organization.
  • 2 years of experience developing engineering standards, technical documentation, or operational procedures.
  • 2 years of experience managing operational and/or capital budgets.
  • 2 years of experience presenting technical recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Enterprise Data Center engineering experience.
  • Experience with Agile planning methodologies and cross-functional delivery models.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, infrastructure automation, hardware automation, or engineering automation practices.
