Shifts & Pay Rates: 2nd shift(4:30pm-3:30am) with OT & some Saturdays required Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 / hour Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented Grinder / Metal Finisher to join our fabrication team. You will operate hand-held angle grinders, die grinders, pedestal grinders, and sanding equipment to prepare raw materials, smooth weld seams, remove burrs, and clean metal assemblies to customer specifications. Key Responsibilities: Surface Preparation: Grind, sand, and smooth metal surfaces (steel, stainless steel, aluminum) to remove rust, scale, slag, and sharp edges. Weld Finishing: Grind down weld seams flush with base metal and smooth joints prior to painting, powder coating, or inspection. Tool Operation: Safely operate handheld angle grinders, pneumatic die grinders, belt sanders, wire wheels, and stationary pedestal grinders. Quality Control: Inspect finished workpieces using calipers, straightedges, or visual standards to ensure required surface finish and tolerances are met. Material Handling: Move raw materials and fabricated parts safely using overhead cranes, forklifts, or material carts. Safety & Maintenance: Maintain clean work areas, inspect grinding wheels and discs for damage before use, and strictly adhere to PPE requirements (face shields, respirators, hearing protection). Requirements & Qualifications: Experience: 1+ years of experience in a metal fabrication shop, machine shop, or industrial manufacturing environment. Technical Skills: Proficiency with pneumatic and electric hand tools, abrasive discs, and metal finishes. Ability to read basic fabrication drawings or blueprints is a plus. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs consistently, and perform repetitive manual tasks with high dexterity.
