World Wide Technology (WWT) is supporting a major financial services client in their search for a Datacenter Technician to join an onsite lab team in West Yorkshire,.
This position involves real-time hardware work the team is responsible for racking, cabling, physical builds, and certification testing, while software configuration is managed by a separate function. Expect a mix of planned certification cycles and urgent, reactive tasks, such as rebuilding an environment to help diagnose a live production issue.
This is a contract Role & Inside IR35
Datacenter Technician
Contract Duration: 6 months
Location: West Yorkshire (Hybrid, 3 days onsite per week)
Key Responsibilities
Carry out physical builds racking, cabling, and hardware installs.
Certify new server and component hardware before go-live.
Diagnose and fix hardware faults without routine escalation.
Stand up test environments to help trace live production issues.
Liaise with networking and software teams on handover and setup.
Handle hardware provisioning and retirement.
Juggle day-to-day tickets alongside longer-term project work.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
Proven, practical experience building and maintaining data centre hardware.
Familiarity with remote management tools (iDRAC, iLO, or XClarity).
Conceptual grasp of VMware and virtualisation, even without hands-on config work.
Understanding of SAN/storage connectivity from a physical standpoint.
Confidence resolving hardware issues with minimal supervision.
Ability to follow technical diagrams and specs accurately.
Background working in a regulated sector such as banking or finance.
Candidates will be required to go through background checks before commencing contract.
