Staff Software Engineer, Constraint Generation
Stack AV · Remote, United States
Job Description
Stack is developing revolutionary AI and advanced autonomous systems designed to enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency of modern operations. Stacks autonomous technology incorporates cutting-edge advancements in artificial intelligence, robotics, machine learning, and cloud technologies, empowering us to create innovative solutions that address the needs and challenges of the dynamic trucking transportation industry. With decades of experience creating and deploying real world systems for demanding environments, the Stack team is dedicated to developing an autonomous solution ecosystem tailored to the trucking industrys unique demands.
We are looking for strong software engineers with motion planning experience to help develop and deploy motion planning components for autonomous trucks. In this role, you will work across all stages of the development lifecycle to design, implement, test, and evaluate new features and feature improvements which directly impact the self-driving system’s on-road performance. Our team is small, and our focus is on building a product. In this role, you will own complex technical challenges end-to-end: framing ambiguous vehicle behaviors, negotiating interfaces with upstream and downstream teams to keep the overall architecture simple, and delivering high-performance modern C++ that operates on compute-constrained platforms.
Own delivery of motion planning features from design to integration in order to solve on-vehicle problems and deliver for customer needs - meeting product requirements and meeting the needs of the planning system, providing a safe, smooth trajectory for the system to follow.
Help shape long-term architecture and roadmap while ensuring timely delivery of features.
Write clean, maintainable, and high-performance software, using modern C++ and Python.
Work closely with other Autonomy teams (Trajectory Generation, Trajectory Evaluation, World Fusion, Prediction, Perception, Localization, Mapping, ...) Work closely with verification teams to ensure proper testing and validation of the motion planning modules. Make extensive use of unit testing, simulation, and log simulation.
Be involved in design and iteration exercises, and help to align stakeholders by using strong presentation and communication skills.
Strong C++ & Python skills, particularly in resource-constrained environments.
Experience developing code for real-world robotics/semi-autonomous platforms.
We are committed to building a culture of inclusion, entrepreneurship, and innovation across gender, race, age, sexual orientation, religion, disability, and identity.
