A well-established, family-owned commercial real estate owner/operator is seeking a Building Engineer to support a portfolio of commercial office properties on Chicago's North Side. They are known for their stability, hands-on management approach, and long-term ownership philosophy. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of day-to-day building operations while working closely with property management, tenants, vendors, and leading maintenance staff.
Responsibilities:Oversee maintenance operations for a portfolio of commercial office buildingsManage preventative maintenance programs and building systemsTroubleshoot and coordinate repairs involving HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systemsSupervise and support maintenance techniciansCoordinate with vendors and contractorsRespond to tenant service requests and help maintain a high level of tenant satisfactionParticipate in an on-call rotation and assist with emergency response when neededSupport seasonal exterior maintenance activities, including snow removal
Minimum Requirements:2+ years of building engineering or facilities maintenance experience supporting commercial office buildingsStrong HVAC, electrical, and plumbing knowledgeExperience supervising maintenance personnelAbility to manage multiple properties xzbcwsv and competing prioritiesStrong communication and customer service skills
HVAC certification is welcomed but not required
