Job Description

Through minimally-invasive, laparoscopic procedures and surgery using the acclaimed da Vinci® Surgical System, patients suffering from all manner of urologic disorders can find healing, often with same-day service. </p><p> General Summary: </p><p> The PA or APRN under the supervision of the Physician, who acts as the collaborative practitioner, is responsible for: </p><ul><li> Performs physical examinations of patients; evaluation and treatment of acute and chronic urologic conditions within the hospital setting and practice </li><li> Procedures to include, catheter replacement/removal, injections, ultrasounds, circumcisions </li><li> Surgery first assist </li><li> Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc. </li><li> Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed </li><li> Collaborates with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff </li><li> Displays a caring and professional attitude at all times as well as maintaining personal and professional growth </li><li> Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, patients, and the public. </li><li> Strong communication skills </li><li> Patient management and surgical first assist for pediatric general surgery patients. </li><li> Collaborate with supervising physician, pediatric surgery team and staff to provide consistent patient care in the inpatient hospital and outpatient clinic settings. </li><li> Perform and document patient histories and physical exams. </li><li> Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, Ultrasound etc. </li><li> Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and implement care plans. </li><li> Participate in daily inpatient rounds. </li><li> Evaluate consultations in the emergency department and outpatient office. </li><li> With appropriate training and supervision, perform bedside procedures such as newborn circumcision, extra digit excision, drainage of abscess, local wound care, ostomy and gastrostomy tube care. </li></ul><p> Knowledge and Skills Required: </p><ul><li> Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, patients, and the public; Strong communication skills </li><li> Ability to work flexible schedule including call rotation, nights, weekends for the general surgery team </li><li> Ability to excel in clinic with highly acute patients </li><li> Confident practice independently </li></ul><p> Required Education/Experience: </p><ul><li> Master’s degree in Nursing (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) Studies </li><li> 2-5 years of experience as a PA-C or APRN; Urology (preferred) and Pediatric Surgery </li></ul><p> Licensure, Certification, and Registration: </p><ul><li> Current, valid Florida PA or APRN license </li><li> Certification by NCCPA, ANCC or other nationally recognized certification organization </li><li> BLS & ACLS </li><li> Current, valid DEA license </li></ul>
