As we have for 130 years, MCC offers best-in-class programming focusing on education, health &amp; wellness, arts &amp; culture, and civic engagement. </p><p> We are seeking a full-time Building Superintendent who will be responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and overall functionality of the facility. This position ensures that building systems operate efficiently, the facility remains clean, safe, and welcoming. Reporting to the Chief Building Engineer, the Building Superintendent provides day-to-day leadership for custodial staff, coordinates maintenance activities, assists with facility projects, and serves as a backup Fire and Life Safety Director. </p><p> RESPONSIBILITIES </p><p> Building Operations &amp; Maintenance </p><p> • Assist in the daily operation, inspection, and maintenance of all building systems, including: </p><p> o HVAC </p><p> o Boilers </p><p> o Plumbing </p><p> o Electrical </p><p> o Lighting </p><p> o Elevators </p><p> o Fire Alarm and Life Safety Systems </p><p> o Building Automation Systems (where applicable) </p><p> • Perform routine building inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and operational deficiencies. </p><p> • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and building issues while ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently. </p><p> • Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs to building systems, equipment, furniture, doors, hardware, and finishes. </p><p> • Coordinate repairs with vendors and contractors while ensuring quality workmanship and minimal disruption to building operations. </p><p> • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection logs, equipment documentation, and work order updates. </p><p> • Assist with maintaining inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment. </p><p> • Help ensure all building systems remain in compliance with applicable city, state, and federal regulations. </p><p> Custodial Operations &amp; Facility Services </p><p> • Provide daily supervision, guidance, and support to custodial/porter staff. </p><p> • Develop and monitor daily and weekly cleaning schedules to ensure all areas meet organizational cleanliness standards. </p><p> • Conduct routine inspections of custodial work and provide coaching and corrective direction when necessary. </p><p> • Assist with room setups and breakdowns for meetings, events, classrooms, community programs, and special functions. </p><p> • Support snow removal, waste disposal, recycling operations, and seasonal building needs. </p><p> • Assist with meal service logistics or other operational support functions as needed. </p><p> Safety, Emergency Response &amp; Compliance </p><p> • Serve as backup Fire and Life Safety Director (FLSD) and respond to building emergencies as required. </p><p> • Participate in emergency preparedness planning, fire drills, evacuation procedures, and life safety training. </p><p> • Respond to emergency maintenance situations during and after normal business hours when required. </p><p> • Support inspections conducted by FDNY, DOB, DOH, insurance representatives, and other regulatory agencies. </p><p> • Promote safe work practices, including proper use of PPE, Lockout/Tagout procedures, chemical handling, and OSHA compliance. </p><p> • Assist in training facilities staff on emergency procedures, equipment operation, and departmental best practices. </p><p> Leadership &amp; Administrative Responsibilities </p><p> • Assist the Chief Building Engineer in scheduling staff and coordinating daily work assignments </p><p> • Help monitor overtime usage and staffing coverage to support operational needs. </p><p> • Foster a collaborative, respectful, and customer-focused work environment. </p><p> • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and departmental planning. </p><p> • Complete special projects and other duties assigned. </p><p> QUALIFICATIONS </p><p> • High School Diploma or GED required; trade school or technical certification preferred. </p><p> • Minimum four (4) years of experience in commercial building operations, facilities maintenance, or property management. </p><p> • Experience supervising custodial, maintenance, or facilities staff. </p><p> • Strong working knowledge of: </p><p> o HVAC systems </p><p> o Plumbing </p><p> o Electrical systems </p><p> o Mechanical equipment </p><p> o Building maintenance practices </p><p> o Preventative maintenance </p><p> • Ability to diagnose maintenance issues and perform minor repairs independently. </p><p> • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. </p><p> • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. </p><p> • Proficiency using Microsoft Office and computerized work order systems. </p><p> • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. </p><p> • Fire and Life Safety Director (FLSD) Certification or ability to obtain within required timeframe. </p><p> • S-95 Certificate of Fitness or equivalent life safety certification. </p><p> • EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification. </p><p> • OSHA Safety Training. </p><p> • Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, PPE, and Confined Space training. </p><p> • Experience working in schools, community centers, nonprofit organizations, or multi-use facilities. </p><p> • Ability to read architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings. </p><p> • Valid New York State Driver’s License preferred. </p><p> BENEFITS </p><ul><li> Generous PTO Policy </li><li> Competitive Salary </li><li> Medical &amp;
