Job Description
Head – Greenfield Projects (Integrated Steel Plant)
Location: West Bengal
Function: Projects | Engineering | Strategic Expansion
Reporting To: Managing Director / Executive Director / Board of Directors
Industry Requirement (Mandatory)
Prefer candidates must possess extensive Greenfield Project experience in all the following facilities:
Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) Steel Melting Shop (SMS) Rolling MillExperience
Minimum 10-15 years of post-qualification experience in leadership role in project team in the Steel Industry. Minimum 5 years in senior leadership positions managing strategic capital projects. Demonstrated leadership in executing one or more Greenfield Integrated Steel Plant projects from concept to commissioning. Proven experience in handling large-scale capital investment projects. Stable career progression with reputed integrated steel manufacturers is essential.Educational Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Electrical or Civil Engineering. Master's Degree / MBA / Project Management certification shall be considered an added advantage.Key Responsibilities
Strategic Project Leadership
Develop and execute the overall Greenfield project strategy aligned with the Company's long-term business objectives. Lead complete project governance from conceptualization through commercial operations. Establish robust execution frameworks, governance mechanisms and project controls. Provide strategic guidance to the Board on project progress, investment utilization, risks and mitigation strategies. Drive execution excellence while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance.Leadership & Organizational Development
Build and mentor a high-performing project organization. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation and operational excellence. Lead multidisciplinary engineering and project teams. Develop future project leadership capabilities. Promote continuous improvement and knowledge management.Key Responsibilities
• Lead complete Greenfield execution of DRI, SMS and Rolling Mill.
• Develop project strategy, governance and execution roadmap.
• Drive engineering, procurement, EPC management and construction.
• Lead commissioning, trial runs and commercial production.
• Manage project budgets, CAPEX, ROI and project controls.
• Coordinate with consultants, technology licensors, OEMs, contractors and government authorities.
• Ensure statutory, environmental, safety and quality compliance.
• Build and lead high-performing multidisciplinary project teams.
• Present project progress, risks and mitigation plans to the MD and Board.
Technical Expertise
Integrated Steel Plant Development, DRI Technology, Steel Melting Shop (SMS), Rolling Mill, Continuous Casting, Utilities, Capital Project Management, EPC Contracts, Primavera/MS Project, SAP/ERP, PLC/SCADA, Cost Control, Value Engineering and Commissioning.
Leadership Competencies

Mandatory Screening Criteria
• Integrated Steel Industry candidates would be preferred.
• Mandatory Greenfield experience covering DRI + SMS + Rolling Mill.
• Minimum 10-15 years' experience.
• Minimum 8 years in leadership roles.
• Stable career with reputed steel manufacturers.
• Willing to be based in West Bengal.
