Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and creative Hybrid Graphic Designer & Book Formatter to join our production team in Bengaluru. This is an essential dual-skill role within our publishing pipeline. You will split your expertise between designing striking, market-ready book covers and marketing collateral, and technically formatting comprehensive, full-length non-fiction manuscripts for worldwide distribution across print and digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

Book Formatting & Interior Layout

• Manuscript Design: Format full-length non-fiction manuscripts from raw text files into beautifully designed, highly readable book interiors.
• Platform Compliance: Set up precise grid structures, margins, bleed, and trim sizes compliant with major self-publishing and print-on-demand platforms, primarily Amazon KDP and IngramSpark .
• Typography & Styling: Design custom chapter headings, drop caps, headers, footers, page numbering structures, and pull quotes tailored to individual book genres.
• Digital Conversion: Convert and optimize finalized print layouts into reflowable and fixed-layout eBook formats (.EPUB) , ensuring flawless display across Kindle, Apple Books, and Kobo.
• Data Integration: Cleanly integrate complex non-fiction elements such as diagrams, data tables, callout boxes, footnotes, and appendices without disrupting text flows.

Cover Design & Marketing Creatives

• Cover Art Direction: Conceptualize, draft, and finalize eye-catching, high-conversion book covers (front, spine, and back) that stand out in crowded online marketplaces.
• A+ Content & Promotional Assets: Design premium visual marketing assets, including Amazon A+ content, social media graphics, book mockups, banner ads, and author promotional materials.
• Pre-Press Preparation: Output perfect print-ready PDF files with exact spine calculations based on paper weight and final page counts.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Technical Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign , Adobe Photoshop , and Adobe Illustrator . Familiarity with dedicated book formatting tools (like Atticus or Vellum) is a strong plus.
• Industry Knowledge: A deep understanding of print typography, grid systems, tracking/kerning, widow/orphan control, and global print-on-demand technical specifications.
• Attention to Detail: Absolute precision when working through multi-hundred-page manuscripts to ensure stylistic continuity.
• Fluency: Excellent communication and visual literacy in English to work smoothly alongside authors and our international editorial staff.
• Portfolio: A verifiable portfolio showcasing clean, professional interior book layouts (both print and digital) along with compelling cover designs.
