Flex Monitor/Van Driver

Van DriverQualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Possess current licensing issued by State of Illinois for driving a school transportation vehicle or have the ability to obtain. Must be 21 years of age or older. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.Reports To: Director of Enrollment & TransportationJob Goal: To provide safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school.Performance Responsibilities:Maintain assigned scheduleMaintain current, up-to-date record of authorized studentsTransport only authorized studentsDischarge students only at authorized stopsMaintain discipline when students are in vehicleReport undisciplined students to the proper authority through Skyward or direct conversation with Director of Enrollment & Transportation, parent, principal, or designeeObey all traffic lawsObserve all mandatory safety regulations for pupil transportation vehiclesNotify the proper authority in case of equipment failureKeep assigned vehicle clean and fueledNo preventable accidentsNo idles over 10 minutesCheck mailbox before every runAdheres to district discipline and positive behavior strategy plansMaintains regular attendanceReport all accidents, complete required reports and cooperate with investigating authoritiesMaintain accurate and up to date route books, including seating charts and route notes, attend route audit meetings as necessaryAttend annual refresher course as offered through the Regional Office of Education as well as district sponsored in-service trainings and the annual skills refresher courseAbility to consistently perform all inspections using the electronic inspection system properlyFollow all department procedures and policies as outlined in department handbook and any updates and addendums as added throughout the yearCertifications:CPR and First Aid certifiedCPI de-escalation certificationPhysical Requirements:Sit 5 hours a day (1 to 2 hours per route)Ability to apply pressure to the gas pedal and/or brake pedalAbility to do multiple pre-trip and post trip inspections (which requires bending, stooping reaching, lifting, etc.)Ability to carry children from the vehicle (weights and sizes vary)Ability to pass Illinois School Bus Driver physical annuallyAbility to lift 35-40 lbs. into car seatsAbility to move or adjust wheelchairsBe comfortable securing children in safety restraints (position of hands)Terms of Employment: 174 Days Classified position salary and hours to be established by the Board of Education.Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions established by the Board of Education.Salary Range: Per Transportation ContractThis job description has been reviewed and is in accordance with the American Disabilities Act.
