We're looking for an Accounting Specialist II - Accounts Payable to play a critical role in managing our accounts payable operations, supporting financial reporting, and helping drive process improvements across the organization.
This is more than a traditional AP position. You'll work closely with leadership, vendors, and internal departments to ensure financial accuracy, improve operational efficiency, and contribute to a strong accounting function that supports the firm's continued growth.
What You'll Do
Accounts Payable & Invoice ProcessingProcess a high volume of vendor invoices accurately and efficientlyReview invoices for completeness and proper documentationCode invoices to the appropriate general ledger accounts and cost centersSupport invoice imports and batch processing initiativesEnsure timely payment of approved invoices
General Ledger & Account ReconciliationsPrepare and post monthly and annual journal entriesReconcile cash, credit card, and other general ledger accountsInvestigate and resolve discrepancies promptlyAssist with month-end and year-end closing activities
Vendor RelationsServe as a primary point of contact for vendor inquiriesResolve invoice and payment issues professionally and efficientlyBuild and maintain strong relationships with key vendorsAssist with vendor onboarding and account maintenance
Financial Reporting & AnalysisSupport the preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reportsAssist leadership with budgeting and expense tracking initiativesProvide reporting and analysis to support informed business decisions
Documentation & Audit SupportMaintain organized and accurate financial recordsEnsure proper retention of invoices, payment documentation, and vendor agreementsPrepare supporting schedules and documentation for audits and financial reviews
Cross-Functional CollaborationPartner with teams across the organization to ensure accurate invoice coding and expense allocationHelp improve communication and efficiency between accounting and operational departments
Process ImprovementIdentify opportunities to streamline workflows and strengthen internal controlsLeverage technology and best practices to improve efficiency and accuracyContribute ideas that reduce costs and enhance financial operations

What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications3+ years of experience in accounts payable, accounting operations, or another high-volume transaction environmentDemonstrated progression in responsibility within previous accounting rolesStrong understanding of accounting principles and financial processesExperience reconciling general ledger accounts and resolving discrepanciesProficiency with accounting software and Microsoft ExcelExceptional organizational skills and attention to detailStrong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldExperience supporting month-end close activitiesExperience working in a professional services or law firm environmentProcess improvement or automation experience
