Job Description
A highly regarded law firm is seeking a mid-level Litigation Associate to join its expanding litigation practice in Washington, DC. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to gain meaningful responsibility, direct client exposure, and hands-on experience handling sophisticated, high-stakes disputes.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing complex litigation matters through all stages of the case lifecycle, including legal research, drafting substantive motions and pleadings, handling written discovery, taking and defending depositions, and supporting trial preparation. Associates will work closely with experienced litigators on challenging matters while developing the skills necessary to become trusted advisors and advocates for clients.
The firm's litigation team represents clients in a broad range of complex business disputes and contentious matters. Associates are given significant responsibility from the outset and are encouraged to take an active role in case strategy, client counseling, and courtroom advocacy. This position offers substantial opportunities for professional growth, mentorship, and advancement through direct collaboration with accomplished trial lawyers.
ResponsibilitiesManage litigation matters through all phases of the case lifecycleDraft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive legal filingsConduct legal research, factual investigations, and case analysisHandle all aspects of written discoveryTake and defend depositions and prepare witnesses for testimonyParticipate in hearings, mediations, and trial preparationCollaborate closely with partners on case strategy and matter managementCommunicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and witnessesAssume increasing responsibility for client relationships and litigation strategy
QualificationsJ.D. from an accredited law schoolMust be admitted to and in good standing with the District of Columbia Bar4-5 years of litigation experience, preferably in a law firm settingOutstanding academic credentialsExcellent written and verbal communication xzbcwsv skillsExperience handling all aspects of written discovery, drafting pleadings and motions, preparing witnesses, and taking and defending depositionsStrong analytical, organizational, and case-management abilitiesExperience with oral advocacy and motion practiceAbility to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environmentPrior judicial clerkship or comparable litigation experience preferredExperience representing clients in complex commercial disputes is preferred
