Job Description

UI/UX Designer (D2C)

Design a shopping experience as thoughtful and delightful as the products themselves.

Experience: 2–5 years

Role Overview

The UI/UX Designer decides how it feels to shop. Everything a Customer touches online — the ad they

tap, the product page they scroll, the cart, the checkout, the confirmation email — is shaped here. UX is the thinking: how the journey flows, where people get stuck, what makes it effortless. UI is the craft: the screens, type, colour, spacing and components that make it look clean. Your job is to make the

experience clear and joyful enough that a busy Customer finishes the purchase without friction.

The Day-to-Day

A designer’s week swings between zoomed-out and zoomed-in. Some days are research and structure — mapping a flow, sketching wireframes, reviewing where users drop off using analytics and heatmaps, and talking to the merchandiser about what needs to change. Other days are pure craft in Figma — designing high-fidelity screens, refining components in the design system, preparing developer-ready specs, and designing campaign creative like landing pages, banners and email templates. Throughout, you’re in conversation with developers so what you design gets built as intended, and you check the live result rather than assuming.

Key Responsibilities

Experience & Interface Design

Design the full journey. Own the whole path — home, collections, product pages, cart, checkout and account — removing anything in the way at each step.

Prototype and hand off cleanly. Build clickable prototypes in Figma so ideas can be felt before they’re built, and hand developers precise specs (spacing, states, behaviour).

Own the design system. Maintain a shared library of components, typography, colour and icons so every screen feels like one coherent brand and ships faster.

Campaigns & Brand and growth.

Design marketing surfaces. Landing pages, campaign creative, banners and email templates, with brand

Keep it on-brand. Balance a playful, friendly aesthetic with the clarity and trust Customer expect.

Research & Iteration

Design with evidence. Run user flows, wireframes and usability reviews; use analytics and heatmaps to decide what to change.

Ship and validate. Partner with developers and merchandising to launch changes and measure their real impact.

Who You’ll Work With

Closely with the Shopify merchandiser (storefront changes), brand and growth (campaign creative), developers (build and handoff), and the design/brand lead you report to. You turn ideas and data into live, measurable improvements.

What Sets a Great Designer Apart

A good designer makes screens that look nice. A great one designs decisions — they know why a flow works, they sweat the small interactions that reduce friction, they design mobile-first because that’s where most parents shop, and they measure whether their work actually moved conversion. Craft plus curiosity plus follow-through.

Requirements

• 2+ years in UI/UX or product design, ideally for D2C / e-commerce.

• A strong portfolio showing shipped digital work — flows, interfaces and outcomes, not just visuals.

• Expert in Figma; solid grasp of design systems, responsive/mobile-first design and prototyping.

• Understanding of UX principles, usability and conversion-focused design.

• Independence — you can take a brief from rough idea to polished, buildable design.

Nice to Have

• Designing for Shopify themes / storefronts.

• Basic HTML/CSS.

• Motion / interaction design or simple illustration.
